Inglourious Basterds
In German occupied France, Shosanna Dreyfus witnesses the execution of her
family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa. Shosanna narrowly escapes and
flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a
cinema. Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt)
organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution.
Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and
undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark on a mission to take down the leaders
of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is
poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own.

Hannah Montana: The Movie
Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) struggles to juggle school, friends
and her secret pop star personal when Hannah Montana's soaring popularity
threatens to take over her life. So her father (Billy Ray Cyrus)
takes the teen home to Crowley Corners, Tenn., for a dose of reality, kicking
off an adventure filled with the kind of fun, laughter and romance even Hannah
Montana couldn't imagine. Jason Earles and Emily Osment
reprise their television roles as Miley’s brother, Jackson, and her best friend,
Lilly. Country music fans will enjoy performances from Taylor Swift,
Rascal Flatts, and Billy Ray Cyrus himself. The film also includes
12 new songs from Miley/Hannah.
The Buzz..
Alyssa
Milano will star in an ABC sitcom called Romantically
Challenged later this year. In real life, though, she seems to be doing just
fine on the romance front. Milano and talent agent David Bugliari
were married in New Jersey. It's the second marriage for the former Charmed
and Who's the Boss? star, who was briefly wed to Cinjun Tate
in 1999.
The new season of Dancing with the Stars contestants has been announced.
And it includes familiar faces from the worlds of modeling, entertainment and
sports such as former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin, reality star
Kelly Osbourne, singer Macy Gray and supermodel
Kathy Ireland. Bu the most interesting pick is from the political
arena. It's former House of Representatives Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
We've all seen Jon Gosselin sporting double pierced ears and
wearing skull printed Ed Hardy T shirts. Turns out he's reportedly
agreed to promote Christian Audigier's duds on the show. But you
won't see those free Ed Hardy logo shirts on Jon & Kate Plus 8. TLC
blurred the Ed Hardy logos last week and now radaronline.com is reporting that
they will continue to do so. Jon has been shopping for endorsement deals and has
met with the French designer and partied on his yacht in Southern France,
supposedly with his 22 year old girlfriend, Hailey Glassman. Jon's
also co-hosting a wild pool party in Las Vegas with Audigier during the Magic
fashion shows in late August.
When comic book store owner Dave Luebke heard that after 67 years,
the carrot topped everyman of the comic world, Archie, was proposing to
rich girl Veronica instead of girl-next-door Betty, he decided to protest by
selling his copy of the series' rare first issue. Luebke's Archie Comics No. 1
sold for $38,837 when Dallas' Heritage Auction Galleries offered it Friday.
Heritage spokesman Noah Fleisher said the buyer was a longtime Archie reader and
collector from Virginia who did not want to be identified.
Radiohead have been nice enough to give fans a brand new song for free.
While Thom Yorke recently announced they won't likely release
another album, the band posted a new song called These Are My Twisted Words
on their website as a free download. In a blog entry, guitarist Jonny
Greenwood wrote a message saying “So here’s a new song, called ‘These Are My
Twisted Words.' We’ve been recording for a while, and this was one of the first
we finished. We’re pretty proud of it.” You can get your free song over at
radiohead.com.
Bryan Singer will direct and produce Universal’s feature film
version of Battlestar Galactica. The news is surprising since
Singer was assumed to be working on X-Men: First Class, about the younger
mutant characters. But Battlestar Galactica is being fast tracked, and Singer
has been interested in the project for quite a while.
Jordin Sparks, American Idol season 6 winner, is joining the
Britney Spears' Circus Tour. Said Sparks, "Britney's show is
incredible and for me to be a part of it is a great opportunity." Britney's blog

American Circus Tour. Sparks will perform on the U.S. portion of the tour, which

concluding on September 26th & 27th in Las Vegas.
Legendary Pictures may be gearing up to do a Godzilla reboot. Godzilla
Final Wars was the last film to have been produced by Japan's Toho company,
as they said they were going to put the Godzilla franchise on hold for as many
as 10 years or more. The U.S. adaptation of Godzilla was released in 1998 but
did not fare well at the box office or with critics and fans.
20th Century Fox is bringing Wolverine back for his own film and it's
confirmed that he's heading to Japan. Christopher McQuarrie will pen the script
for the Wolverine sequel. Hugh Jackman is on board to reprise his
role once more as Wolverine. Wolverine 2 will be adapted from the early 1980s
miniseries about Wolverine dealing with ninjas in Japan. He becomes conflicted
between the samurai's code of honor and respect versus his own animal instincts.
Michael Jackson’s dad Joe Jackson claims his son’s body has not
yet been buried but will laid to rest on his birthday, which would have been
August 29th. According to the New York Daily News, Joe says that Michael will be
buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, where the original
family memorial was held.
Virgin Festival Ontario is moving back to Toronto. The two day
festival will now take place downtown at the Molson Amphitheatre
instead of Burl's Creek Park, just outside Orillia. Virgin Fest’s director
Andrew Bridge said it was moved to due fan demand because tickets sales were
lower than expected. Nine Inch Nails, Franz Ferdinand,
Sean Kingston, and Our Lady Peace are just some
of the bands expected to play. Virgin Festival Ontario takes place August 29th
and 30th.
Wal-Mart is being embraced with a Kiss. The veteran heavy metal
group, Kiss, is joining a growing list of classic acts putting out new music
through the world's largest retailer. Sonic Boom is due to be
released only at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club on Oct. 6. It will
include a CD of the band's first new music in 11 years, re-recorded versions of
famous Kiss hits and a live DVD. Other classic acts that have chosen to release
albums through Wal-Mart include the Eagles, AC/DC and Foreigner.
An American widow is selling her husband's burial spot directly above film
legend Marilyn Monroe so that she can pay off her mortgage.
Elsie Poncher has put an advertisement on eBay to auction off the
tomb in Westwood Village Memorial Park, Los Angeles. "Here is a once in a
lifetime and into eternity opportunity to spend your eternal days directly above
Marilyn Monroe," says the advertisement. In fact the person occupying the
address right now is looking face down on her." The burial plot is currently
occupied by the late Richard Poncher, described by his widow as an entrepreneur
who bought two tombs from baseball player Joe DiMaggio, Monroe's
ex-husband, as the pair were divorcing in 1954.
