Couples Retreat
Four Midwestern couples embark on a journey to a tropical island resort. While
one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the other three set out
to jet ski, spa and enjoy some fun in the sun. They soon discover that
participation in the resort's couples therapy is not optional. Suddenly, their
group rate vacation comes at a price. What follows is a hilarious look at real
world problems faced by all couples.
The Buzz...
Lost may be ending its run in May, but Daniel Dae Kim
is hoping he can stick around in Hawaii. The star has landed one of the lead
roles in CBS' pilot update of Hawaii Five-0. Kim will play
Detective Chin Ho Kelly, stepping into Kam Fong's shoes from the original island
cop classic. The new Hawaii Five-0 comes from Fringe co-creators Roberto
Orci and Alex Kurtzman, plus CSI: NY veteran
Peter Lenkov.
Just shy of her two year anniversary, Jessica Alba is refuting
rumors of a November kissing incident between her husband, Cash Warren,
and Lindsay Lohan, and says she doesn't get as worked up about
such tabloid "lies" as she used to. "Lindsay's had to deal with this for so
long," Alba, 28, tells the U.K. edition of Cosmopolitan for its March
issue. "Everyone has to live their life, and that's what people forget when
you're in this business, she's really nice. We hang out and chat for hours about
girl stuff."
A documentary chronicling the history of DC Comics is to debut at
this year's Comic-Con International. The project is helmed by the
filmmakers behind Spellbound, an scar nominated documentary following
competitors in the 1999 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
John & Edward have predicted that they will be top of the charts this
week, despite failing to clinch number one in yesterday's chart battle. Their
single Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby), which features Vanilla
Ice, was beaten to the top spot by Owl City with
Fireflies.
Reggie Bush goes from Super Bowl to supermodel. "Milk
helped me fuel up," Reggie's ad reads, "It's got the nutrients I need to refuel
... so down the milk and play for keeps." Aside from the big game this weekend,
the footballer hit Miami in stride to party and play alongside girlfriend Kim
Kardashian, who snapped several pics of the couple out on the town.
Jennifer Aniston kicked off her birthday partying a little early
this weekend with a trip to Cabo. To celebrate her 41st, which is
actually Feb. 11, she brought her usual lady friends Courteney Cox
and Sheryl Crow. But the weekend wasn't all about girl time,
Gerard Butler also joined her.
Super Bowl XlIV's ratings look like a record breaker. Sunday's
matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the
Indianapolis Colts drew a 46.4 overnight Nielsen rating, a 10 percent
increase over last year's record setting game, which was watched by 98.7 million
viewers. If estimates hold, it will be the first sporting event to break 100
million viewers in the United States.
Bill Murray has revealed that he will be appearing in the upcoming
Ghostbusters 3 film, as a ghost. Murray revealed that his character Dr.
Peter Venkman will have a small role to play in the hotly anticipated sequel.
However Murray made it clear that the only way he was going to appear in the
next installment was as a deceased Ghostbuster.
It's Doc Brown to the rescue! Chuck has tapped Back to the Future's
mad scientist, Christopher Lloyd, to play a therapist who Chuck
turns to when the pressures of the spy biz become too much for him to bear.
Sheryl Crow has landed a big TV role as a regular on pal
Courteney Cox's Cougar Town. The rocker will play the love
interest of actor Josh Hopkins' divorced character Grayson. It
won't be Crow's first acting job. She appeared in TV sitcom 30 Rock
and Cole Porter biopic De-Lovely.
The war of words between Aerosmith stars Joe Perry and
Steven Tyler appears to be over. The guitarist insists the singer is
still very much a part of the rock band. Tyler announced a surprise two year
hiatus from the group last year without informing his bandmates, prompting Perry
to tell fans he would be looking for a singer to take the frontman's place.
Actress Valerie Bertinelli's latest weightloss ad for U.S. diet firm
Jenny Craig has been axed following complaints from a rival firm. In
the commercial, the star claims Jenny Craig dieters lost twice as much weight as
those using WeightWatchers, according to a "major clinical trial", but
the officials for the rival firm insisted the ad was pulled off the air because
the tests never took place.
Avatar has finally been dethroned. The highest-grossing movie of all time
was knocked from its #1 position by Dear John, the romantic drama
starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum. The
film made $32.4 million in its opening weekend, while Avatar only made another
$23.6 million. Still, it’s unlikely that Dear John will beat Avatar’s $2.2
billion in worldwide sales.
Michael Jackson has topped the charts once again. His concert film
This Is It is the week’s best selling DVD and Blu-Ray DVD, with total
sales of more than 1.2 million copies. The total has also broken the record for
first week sales by a music DVD. And that might not be it for This Is It. Online
reports are saying that Sony is looking at re-releasing a number of
movies as 3D DVDs, including MJ’s concert flick.
