The Happytime Murders
No Sesame. All Street. The Happytime Murders is a filthy
comedy set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles where
puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with
a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy)
and one puppet, are forced to work together again to
solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved
classic puppet television show. A twisted take on our
childhoods that will appeal to the kid and adult in all
of us.

Deadpool 2
Wisecracking mercenary Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) meets Russell, an
angry teenage mutant who lives at an orphanage. When Russell becomes the target
of Cable (Josh Brolin), a genetically enhanced soldier from the
future, Deadpool realizes that he'll need some help saving the boy from such a
superior enemy. He soon joins forces with Bedlam, Shatterstar, Domino and other
powerful mutants to protect young Russell from Cable and his advanced weaponry.
If you loved the first film, this is a no brainer.
The Buzz...
Despite recent remarks by CBS that the network was exploring another
season of The Big Bang Theory, the network and producing studio Warner
Bros. TV just announced that the top-rated comedy series will end
its run in May 2019. It still will rank as the longest-running multi camera
series in television history, 12 seasons and a record breaking 279 episodes.
The Hills is the latest series to be revived, with MTV
making the big announcement during the 2018 VMAs on Monday night. Set to
premiere in 2019, The Hills: New Beginnings will reunite original cast
members, inviting their children and friends along for the ride, as well as
bring in new faces.
Monica Barbaro is on board to join Tom Cruise and
Miles Teller in Top Gun: Maverick. Barbaro was one of
several actresses that tested with Teller last week before the studio finally
made the decision over the weekend. Oblivion helmer Joe
Kosinski is directing the film, a sequel to the 1986 original Top
Gun. This latest project will be set in a world of drone technology and will
explore the end of the era of dogfighting, with Cruise portraying a flight
instructor.
Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan is
accused of dodging Singapore’s compulsory military service and could face up to
three years in jail if convicted of draft dodging.
Forbes revealed their annual list of highest paid actors for 2018 and
George Clooney topped the list with $239 million between June 1, 2017
and June 1, 2018. It may have to do with Casamigos Tequila, which
was founded in 2013 by George, Rande Gerber and Mike
Meldman. Forbes reports the alcohol brand was purchased for $700 million.
While it may not be their wedding day just yet, it was time for Brittany
Cartwright and Jax Taylor to get the party started. Two
months after announcing their engagement, the Vanderpump Rules
stars gathered their loved ones at the Inn of the Seventh Ray for an evening of
celebrating their love.
John Lithgow will play Roger Ailes, the Fox
News chief who masterfully exploited the country’s political divisions to
rise to the top of the cable news heap, in Annapurna’s upcoming drama about the
sexual harassment scandal that ended his career.
The forthcoming Netflix series What/If has added a second person
to its cast alongside Renee Zellweger. Jane Levy (Castle
Rock) has joined the drama anthology from Mike Kelley. The
former Suburgatory star will play a character named Lisa in the show, but
other details about her role are being kept quiet for now.
Justin Sundquist, who sued CBS Corp. and CBS TV Studios
last year after being injured on the set of Hawaii Five-0, has sustained
a serious head injury during a stunt on another CBS/CBS Studios series,
MacGyver, which is shooting in Atlanta.
The DC Universe SVOD service that launches in the fall is getting a daily
news show focused on all things DC. DC Daily will kick off August
29 with a 4:30 Pm Pt livestream hosted by Kevin Smith, who will
introduce viewers to the show’s format, sets and exclusive content and provide
an in-depth look at the DC Universe service.
Brendan Fraser has been cast in the series regular role of
Robotman, aka Cliff Steele, in the upcoming DC
Universe series Doom Patrol. Fraser will provide the voiceover
performance for the superhero, and appear as Cliff in flashback scenes. Riley
Shanahan has also been cast to play the physical performance of the
Robotman on stage in costume.
Veronica Mars could be making its long awaited TV return.
Variety hinted that a revival of the series is currently in the works at
Hulu with original series star Kristen Bell poised to return
as the titular detective and original series creator Rob Thomas
serving as writer.
Simon Cowell is sticking with America’s Got Talent and
NBC. The creator of the hit global franchise has renewed his multi-year deal
with NBC as judge on the juggernaut series. He’ll also continue as executive
producer.
