Fifty Shades Freed

John Mahoney, who was best known as Kelsey Grammer
and David Hyde Pierce's irascible dad Martin on Frasier,
has died. He was 77. As the curmudgeonly retired cop Martin Crane, Mahoney
received two supporting actor Emmy nominations for his work on the
1993-2004 NBC hit.
James Mangold has come on board to direct a project about the
battle between the designers at Ford and Ferrari to create the
world’s fastest racecar.
Gal Gadot will voice herself in an upcoming episode of The
Simpsons. “I grew up watching The Simpsons and now I get to voice myself
in an episode!” Gadot tweeted, accompanying a video of herself signing
Marge Simpson’s hair. Gadot will star in an episode titled Bart’s Not Dead
airing in during season 30, which will debut next fall.
Netflix has nabbed its second star studded show from Ryan
Murphy. Following a weeklong bidding war, the streaming giant has handed out
a two-season, straight to series order for The Politician,
starring Tony winner Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen).
Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow are in talks to
co-star in the hourlong comedy from Glee co-creators Murphy, Brad
Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
Super Bowl LII may have been down from last year, but its lead out
program was way, way up. With a 16.2 rating in metered-market households,
This Is Us scored the highest post-Super Bowl TV rating in six years, per
early Nielsen numbers. The special Sunday episode’s numbers were 59 percent
higher than last year’s premiere of 24: Legacy.
Taraji P. Henson has severed ties with her manager, Vincent
Cirrincione, following recent claims of sexual misconduct against him.
Tim Matheson has booked a recurring role on the second season of
CBS All Access drama The Good Fight.
HGTV has boarded up its popular Property Brothers,
Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott, under a new multiyear
deal. As part of the agreement, the twins’ Scott Brothers
Entertainment will develop new home related series for high rated Scripps
cable channel.
Dwayne Johnson had a surprise announcement late Super
Bowl Sunday. The actor and producer, ahead of his time on The
Tonight Show, announced that he was teaming with NBC for
unscripted series The Titan Games. Johnson will host and
exec produce the 10 episode unscripted competition show.
Jennifer Lawrence surprised fellow airplane passengers on a flight
on Super Bowl Sunday when she took over the speaker and led
a chant to support the Philadelphia Eagles.
