At The Movies

The Commuter
Insurance salesman Michael (Liam Neeson) is on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on the train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding, and he is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for everyone on the train.

IT
Every 27 years, an ancient shape-shifting predator (Bill Skarsgård) emerges from the sewers to feed on innocent children by preying on their deepest fears in the town of Derry, Maine. A group of seven children, who are considered misfits, form a group called the "Losers Club." They soon realize that they've all had encounters with a demonic entity that appears in various forms, but primarily in the shape of a clown named Pennywise. Not knowing what to call the entity, they refer to it as "It" and believe It is responsible for the recent murders of a number of children in their town. Based on the novel by Stephen King.

The Buzz...

Don’t print those Oprah 2020 posters just yet. CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King revealed that best friend Oprah Winfrey has no plans to run for president right now , even though the former daytime talk show host might be “intrigued” by the idea.

Olivia Munn is going back to her roots. The former Attack of the Show host, who has gone on to become an actress, author and activist, will once again taking the reigns as a host with the most when she takes on duties at 2018 Critics' Choice Awards on Jan. 11. Earlier in the month, the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced the 37 year old X-Men star will host the show that will air on The CW.

David Oyelowo, Dominic West, and Lily Collins have been cast in the lead roles in the upcoming BBC mini-series adaptation of Les Misérables. Based on Victor Hugo’s iconic literary classic, the story centers on French convict Jean Valjean (West) and his struggles to escape his past while being hunted for years over a parole violation by Inspector Javert (Oyelowo).

Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo is a big Paramore fan, and it turns out the feeling is mutual. After footage found its way online last month of the 15-year-old’s band covering Paramore’s classic Misery Business, Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams got in touch over Twitter to extend an amazing invitation to perform with them during a stop on their tour.

The U.S.S. Callister‘s mission may be far from over. The outer space themed episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror Season 4 was so richly realized and faithful to its obvious inspirations that some have clamored for its crew to continue on, in a standalone series. And maybe, just maybe, that will happen.

Hugh Laurie’s Hulu drama Chance has been canceled after two seasons. The psychological thriller, produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, was picked up for two seasons by the streaming service in 2016. The show is based on Kem Nunn’s novel of the same name.

LA to Vegas has scored an order for three additional episodes, Variety has confirmed. The order brings the show’s freshman season episode count to 15. The series debuted just last week, with the premiere drawing a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers. The series follows the crew and passengers of Jackpot Airlines, which travels back and forth between Los Angeles and Las Vegas every weekend.

Peyton Elizabeth Lee is staying in the Disney family, with the Andi Mack star now joining the Disney Junior animated series The Lion Guard. Lee will lend her voice to a new lion character named Rani, appearing in seven to nine episodes of The Lion Guard’s third season. Joshua Rush, who plays Cyrus on Andi Mack, currently voices the character Bunga. The show continues the story of The Lion King and follows Kion, the second born cub of Simba and Nala, who is destined to become leader of the Lion Guard.

After postponing production for Bye, Bye Birdie starring Jennifer Lopez, NBC has decided to move forward with another production in its place: Jesus Christ Superstar. The live musical isn't set to air until later this Spring. John Legend will star as Jesus alongside Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene and Alice Cooper will take the role of King Herod.

Rerun rights to the Netflix animated comedy BoJack Horseman are being shopped to cable buyers by distributor Debmar Mercury, an unusual example of a Netflix original series hitting the syndication market.
