Alita: Battle Angel
Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita
(Rosa Salazar) is found in the scrapyard
of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who
takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When
Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does
she have any recognition of the world she finds herself
in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the
treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield
her from her mysterious past. James Cameron
and Robert Rodriguez deliver another
cutting edge visual delight that is best seen on the big
screen.

Bohemian Rhapsody
A foot stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary
lead singer Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek). Freddie
defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved
entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band
through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled
success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences,
shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the
collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in
time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis,
Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of
rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers
and music lovers to this day
The Buzz...
Spike Lee has tapped Chadwick Boseman to star
in his next film, Da 5 Bloods. Netflix is in talks to distribute
the movie, with Delroy Lindo and Jean Reno also in
negotiations to star. The film follows Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle
to find their lost innocence.
Everyone’s favorite ice queen is braving a new element in the newest teaser
trailer for Disney’s Frozen 2, which shows Queen Elsa (Idina
Menzel) conquering a massive body of water. She’s later reunited with
some familiar faces, Princess Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan
Groff), and a friendly reindeer named Sven.
Hulu has set six series regulars for its upcoming scripted series on the
origins of The Wu-Tang Clan. Ashton Sanders, Shameik
Moore, Siddiq Saunderson, Marcus Callender,
Zolee Griggs, and Erika Alexander have all been cast
in the 10-episode series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
Amy Schumer's second comedy special with Netflix is set to
debut on the streamer next month. The new special, taped in Chicago and set to
hit Netflix on Tuesday, March 19, is described as "a refreshingly honest and
hilarious take on marriage, pregnancy and personal growth."
Box office figures for China’s competitive Spring Festival
(Chinese New Year) period reached a record high this year, despite rampant
piracy that likely incurred losses of an estimated RMB1 billion ($147.9
million), Chinese reports said. But the record gross came on the strength of
higher movie ticket prices, not from more viewers hitting the theaters.
Netflix has ordered the comedy series Merry Happy
Whatever with Dennis Quaid set to star. Quaid will play Don
Quinn, a strong-willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated
family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes
home for the holidays with a new boyfriend. Netflix has ordered eight episodes.
Should the show get renewed, it is possible it could take place during different
holidays.
In the first trailer for The Hustle, Anne Hathaway
adopts a posh British accent to play an experienced scam artist who takes
Rebel Wilson under her very glamorous wing so they can scam a
billionaire together. The film is a gender swap version of Dirty
Rotten Scoundrels.
Beyoncé is clearly aware that a picture is worth a thousand words, which
is why she usually leaves her Instagram photos captionless. However, she
did make an exception in honor of her Bff Kelly Rowland's 38th
birthday on Monday. "Happy Birthday Kelly!" |
