The Buzz...
Toy Story 4 has a friend in the box office. The Disney
Pixar sequel took home another $17 million in Friday ticket sales,
leading to a decisive victory over weekend openers Annabelle Comes
Home and Yesterday.
Could Steve Carell be planning to resurrect Michael Scott on
television? The Office fans are abuzz after the actor recently
teased on social media an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia / The Office
crossover episode. The rumor was first started earlier this week by Rob
McElhenney, creator and star of It’s Always Sunny. McElhenney posted a
video online from the set of the FXX comedy’s fourteenth season and
revealed the production was filming on the exact same set The Office used for
its main setting, Dunder Mifflin.
Sophia Bush will not return to law enforcement after all: CBS
has officially passed on the Chicago P.D. alumna’s drama pilot
Surveillance, which was in contention for the 2019-2020 TV season.
Surveillance tested “through the roof,” according to Variety, but the end
product was not seen as a good fit for the network. The would-be spy thriller
centered on Bush’s Maddy, the head of communications for the Nsa, who was torn
between protecting the government’s secrets and her own.
Jeremy Renner didn’t wait long to release a follow-up project to
Avengers: Endgame, but most fans didn’t see this career twist coming.
Renner, beloved around the world for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel
Cinematic Universe, dropped his new music single, an edgy rock track titled
Heaven Don’t Have a Name. Renner teased the song earlier this week in a
viral video that showed the actor laying down tracks and playing various
instruments for the track.
Tom Holland’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is ruling the
international box office head of its release in North America. Spider-Man:
Far From Home collected a huge $111 million this weekend when it launched in
China, Japan and Hong Kong. Most of that haul came from China, where the
superhero tentpole earned $98 million, marking the fourth best start for a comic
book adventure behind Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War
and Venom.
The Killers had a pair of surprises in store for their
Glastonbury headlining set as the band brought out both Pet Shop Boys
and Johnny Marr during the gig’s encore. With the iconic British
dance duo, the Killers tackled the Pet Shop Boys’ synth-pop rendition of
Always on My Mind before Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe
joined the Killers on that band’s hit Human.
