At The Movies

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.

On DVD

Alita: Battle Angel
Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.

The Buzz...

Ridley Scott looks to have his next directing job, as he has signed on to direct The Last Duel with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck attached to star. The pic is set in 14th century France and follows a man who goes to war and returns to discover a friend of his has raped his wife. No one will believe the woman, and the soldier appeals to the king of France and says he wants to fight a duel to the death to decide the man’s fate.

The upcoming Lord of the Rings series at Amazon has made its first casting decision. Markella Kavenagh is in talks for a role in the upcoming epic fantasy series.

Ariana Grande has seemingly spoken out against celeb photographer Marcus Hyde, after a model accused him of bribing her for nude portraits. Los Angeles based model Sunnaya took to her Instagram account and shared screenshots of her alleged direct messages with Hyde. She claimed that she reached out to him via Dm after he posted an ad looking for models. In her screenshots of their alleged conversation, she claimed that he asked her for nude photos in exchange for a free photo session.

Oops, has Britney Spears done it again?! The 37 year old pop star wore an especially sparkly diamond ring on that finger as she attended the Los Angeles premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood alongside longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari. Britney complemented her seemingly new piece of jewelry with a red mini-dress by Nookie, black chunky heels and a flashy choker.

The Simpsons Movie was a massive success for 20th Century Fox when it opened theatrically in July 2007. With $527 million worldwide, the long awaited film based on the Fox animated series ended the year as the eighth biggest box office hit. The Simpsons owner Fox is now owned by Walt Disney Studios. “No doubt there will be another ‘Simpsons’ movie one of these days,” Matt Groening assured fans. “I think Disney wants something for its money.”

Netflix announced that rapper Kid Cudi will team up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris to create an adult animated streaming series based on his upcoming album, Entergalactic.

To help promote HGTV’s upcoming series about the renovation of the Brady Bunch House, Discovery is bringing the Brady Bunch to some of its other networks. Brady Bunch cast members will appear in episodes of Fast N’ Loud, Chopped, Worst Cooks in America, The Kitchen and The Pioneer Woman, which air on Food Network and Discovery Channel. These episodes will air in August and September, leading up to the debut of A Very Brady Renovation.

Chris Rock’s Saw reboot will slash into theaters five months earlier, with Lionsgate announcing a May 15, 2020 release in the height of the summer season. The film, starring Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, had previously been set for release on October 23, 2020. It will now face off against Warner Bros.’ animated reboot Scooby.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not face charges in relation to a 2009 sexual assault allegation leveled against him. The Clark County District Attorney's office declined to prosecute the soccer star because, as they stated in a press release, the alleged incident cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
