At The Movies

Doctor Sleep
Struggling with alcoholism, Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) remains traumatized by the sinister events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. His hope for a peaceful existence soon becomes shattered when he meets Abra, a teen who shares his extrasensory gift of the "shine." Together, they form an unlikely alliance to battle the True Knot, a cult whose members try to feed off the shine of innocents to become immortal. Stephen King penned this novel as a follow up to The Shining.

Brixton Lorr is a cybernetically enhanced soldier who possesses superhuman strength, a brilliant mind and a lethal pathogen that could wipe out half of the world's population. The Buzz...

Ben Affleck is set to star in the next film from director Robert Rodriguez, a mind bending action thriller called Hypnotic. Rodriguez and Max Borenstein wrote the film that will star Affleck as a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists.

Pop culture fans around the world couldn't help but notice the incredible chemistry between the A Star Is Born co-stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Whether sharing the stage at the 2019 Oscars or heating up the big screen, there was something special about this duo that moviegoers couldn't ignore. The chemistry become so electric that romance rumors continued to surround the famous duo for several months. So what does Lady Gaga have to say about them? Things never got romantic.

James Dean will be brought back to the big screen through CGI visual effects for the Vietnam War era drama Finding Jack. The actor, best known for Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden and Giant, died in a car accident in 1955 at age 24. Magic City Films has obtained rights from his family to cast Dean posthumously in the secondary lead role in the movie.

Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth in Matt ReevesThe Batman. Robert Pattinson is set to star as the Dark Knight. Reeves took over the directing gig after Ben Affleck stepped away from the role.

Chris Stapleton is rendered as a Lego mini figure in the new video for Second One to Know, a colorful, eye-popping montage that finds the Kentucky country singer doing battle with ninjas and ultimately slaying a dragon with a literally fiery guitar solo. Stapleton’s wife Morgane and members of his family are also animated as Lego people, along with Stapleton’s band, including producer Dave Cobb. There’s also a cameo by Stapleton super-fan and friend Chris Pratt, who lent his voice to both The Lego Movie in 2014 and its 2019 sequel.

Lifetime’s Salt-n-Pepa biopic has found its leads. G.G. Townson and Laila Odom will be playing CherylSalt James and SandraPepaDenton, respectively. Additionally, the upcoming limited series will also star Cleveland Berto as music producer Hurby Azor, Jermel Howard as rapper Treach and Monique Paul as DJ Spinderella. This still untitled authorized biopic follows the acclaimed musicians as they first fall into the world of hip-hop after recording a song for a friend. It will track their impact on the music world, becoming one of the first all-female rap groups, changing the look and sound of the genre.

CBS is serving up another show from the mind of James Corden. This time, the network has issued an order for “Game On!,” an equal parts comedy and game show based on the popular U.K. series A League of Their Own, which Corden hosts. Keegan-Michael Key has been tapped to host the U.S. version, which will feature tennis champion Venus Williams and New England Patriots Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski as team captains.

Emilia Clarke has had millions of people "bend the knee" to her Game of Thrones character onscreen, but when she came face to face with a real-life royal, it was her turn. The 33-year-old actress, who played dragon mom and queen Daenerys Targaryen, met Prince William at Kensington Palace during the Centrepoint Awards, which celebrates young people who have overcome homelessness.

Millions of fans’ realities were shattered today at the release of Stranger Things 3’s blooper reel on the show’s official Twitter page. Coming to terms with the notion that this cast is fallible will surely rock many viewers to the core. Others, perhaps, can take comfort knowing that, at the end of the day, these people are just like us. They’re merely a lot younger and get paid a whole lot more.
