The Buzz...
It's officially been one year since The Highwomen, composed of
Maren Morris, Natalie Hemby, Brandi Carlile,
and Amanda Shires, released their self titled debut album. To mark
the one year anniversary, Morris shared several photos on Instagram from
different moments with her bandmates throughout the year. The Highwomen also
shared a photo and several videos on their Instagram account to mark the
occasion. The post included a photo of the black-and-white album followed by
individual clips from each band member thanking fans for their support and
reflecting on the year.
Ming-Na Wen, the actress who voiced the title role in animated Disney
classic Mulan, appears in the studio’s live action remake. Wen voiced the
character in the 1998 movie and, near the end of the new film, after Mulan has
saved the Emperor of China, defeats the villainous Bori Khan, and is an invited
guest at the palace, the actress makes a cameo appearance.
Bay City Rollers bassist Ian Mitchell has
died aged 62. The British musician’s death was announced in a post on the band’s
official Facebook page, which read: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Ian
Mitchell’s death. Mitchell, who unlike his bandmates hailed from Northern
Ireland, was just 17 when he was drafted into the group to replace bassist
Alan Longmuir. However, he spent just seven months with the band
before leaving.

album in almost four years and giving Taylor 46 weeks on top, shared over seven

Rocker Dave Grohl has conceded defeat to a 10 year old following
an online drum off. Brit Nandi Bushell, who has become a
viral sensation thanks to her skills, challenged the former Nirvana
drummer to prove he’s still got it behind the kit by playing along to his
current group Foo Fighters’ Everlong on YouTube, and
asking Grohl to do the same.
Ozzy Osbourne has shattered Black Sabbath fans’
dreams of another reunion show, insisting he’s done with his old band. The
rocker previously admitted he regretted not including drummer Bill Ward in the
group’s farewell tour and their final show in Birmingham, England in 2017,
suggesting he’d like to plan one more get together for all the original
bandmates.
Made By Maddie, Nickelodeon’s new animated series,
has been dropped after attracting backlash from fans. Officials at the network
debuted the premiere date and first look of the show last week, which features a
predominantly black lead cast in the story of an eight-year-old girl from New
York City who “uses her imagination and design ingenuity to turn every problem
into a positive with the perfect fashion fix.” However, a number of fans noticed
similarities to Matthew A. Cherry’s Hair Love, which won the Oscar
for Best Animated Short Film in 2020, with a television spinoff now in
development for HBO Max. |
