At The Movies

Fever Pitch

A contemporary romantic comedy about a high school teacher who is enamored with a successful businesswoman. When Lindsay Meeks (Drew Barrymore) meets Ben Rightman (Jimmy Fallon) they fall for each other at the first sight. Although their lives are vastly different, the relationship seems perfect until the baseball season begins and she has to compete with his first true love, the Boston Red Sox. A funny romantic comedy that has a little something for the girls and little something for the guys. A definite date movie, Fever Pitch swings for the fences and connects.

Hotel Rwanda

Ten years ago some of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind took place in the country of Rwanda. In an era of high-speed communication and round the clock news, the events went almost unnoticed by the rest of the world. In only three months, one million people were brutally murdered. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over a thousand helpless refugees, by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages. Hotel Rwanda is so powerful, so terrifying that it leaves you defenseless to the atrocities of that massacre. And for anyone who has ever enjoyed the freedoms of a Western Civilization, this film reminds you that not everyone has it as good as you do.

The Buzz...

World Entertainment News Network is reporting that MTV will broadcast reality show The Osbournes on the Internet as part of a free online channel. The cable network has decided to launch the MTV Overdrive web site to compete with rival firms like Walt Disney and Microsoft, who have already capitalized on the growing number of online viewers. MTV Overdrive will let users with high-speed computer connections watch music videos and extended programs on demand. The web site is currently being tested and will launch fully on April 25.

KISS demon Gene Simmons has signed on to star in six episodes of VH1's Rock School, a reality series inspired by the hit movie, School of Rock.

Cyberchase, PBS' math mystery cartoon series, will present a two-hour Cyberchase: Know Your Dough marathon of four episodes that give kids tips on how to earn, save and spend money in a thrifty way.

Frankie Muniz will join the horror thriller Stay Alive where he will play a computer nerd. He joins two lesser known TV performers, Jon Foster from ABC's Life As We Know It and Samaire Armstrong of Fox's The O.C., in a film about a group of young friends in New Orleans who reconnect for the funeral of a pal who died while playing a video game called Stay Alive.

dual duffs

Hilary Duff and Haylie Duff will star in their first film together in a comedy titled Material Girls. The picture will follow a pair of rich sisters who find that their inherited fortune becomes lost in a corporate scandal. They launch an investigation in order to pinpoint the culprit. Hilary will rerecord Madonna's Material Girl for the soundtrack.

Despite negative reviews and only a less than spectacular performance at the box-office, 20th Century Fox is going ahead with a sequel to last year’s Garfield.

With the announcement of Matthew Vaughn at the helm of X-Men 3, it looks like things are taking shape for the project to finally happen. Deals have been made with Hugh Jackman and Famke Janssen to return. Other stars, including Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and Rebecca Romijn, are in negotiations with 20th Century Fox as well. The only cast member not expected to return is James Marsden, who opted to star in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns instead.

Is Justin Timberlake is being sought to play Bruce Willis' son in Die Hard 4.0? You may remember the rumors about Britney Spears playing Willis' daughter in Die Hard 4 years ago, so this one will have to keep on the rumor pile.

Michael Bay will be directing a live-action film based on The Transformers. Bay, whose work includes Bad Boys and Pearl Harbor, will direct the feature for Dreamworks, with Steven Spielberg serving in an executive producer role. The Transformers were a pop culture phenomenon in the 1980s which originated as warring toy robots that morphed into bigger bots. The toys later spawned several cartoons and even a 1986 cartoon movie.

Robert Redford will lend his voice talents to the live-action/CGI film version of E.B. White's classic, Charlotte's Web. He joins a cast which already stars Dakota Fanning and also includes the voice talents of Oprah Winfrey, John Cleese, Steve Buscemi, Cedric the Entertainer, and Julia Roberts as the voice of Charlotte.

AC/DC ranked fourth on BRW magazine's annual list of the richest Australian entertainers. According to the BBC, the band earned nearly $14 million last year. Topping the list was the children's entertainment group The Wiggles, followed by actress Nicole Kidman.

KnuckleBonz, Inc. announced today their plans to create a Dimebag Darrell sculpture for the Guitar Hero limited edition collectible figure series. The Guitar Hero series is a collection of rock's most highly praised guitarists, sculpted in great detail and cast in poly-resin. The series is designed to be a tribute to acclaimed guitarists who have made their indelible mark on music history. All figures in the series are officially licensed.
