At The Movies

Charlotte's Web
Fern (Dakota Fanning) is one of only two living beings who see that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures, a spider named Charlotte (Julia Roberts), and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur’s days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte, who sees miracles in the ordinary, spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is “some pig” and worth saving. A delightful children's classic.

The Buzz..

The Grammy Award nominations have been announced and Billboard Awards queen Mary J. Blige leads all artists with 8 nominations. Red Hot Chili Peppers aren’t far behind with 6, while John Mayer and Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse each scored 5. The Chili Peppers will compete for Album of the Year with Mayer and Justin Timberlake. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 11th in L.A.

Not only can you dress like Gwen Stefani but soon you'll be able to smell like her. The Hollaback Girl has signed a deal with Coty Inc, the world's largest fragrance company, to develop a scent for her L.A.M.B. clothing brand.

Andre 3000 will star in an upcoming film titled Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell. The movie follows a basketball team in the 1970s. The rapper will play a ladies man who is the best player on the team. The aspiring actor recently lent his voice in the upcoming live-action version of Charlotte's Web.

Paul Rudd will star in Big Brothers alongside Seann William Scott for the new comedy by Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door). Rudd and Scott star as two egotistical thirtysome bachelors who spend their lives like frat boys. When one of their exploits gets out of hand, a judge orders them to enroll in a Big Brother program where they serve as mentors to younger children.

hitman replaced

Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant may replace Vin Diesel in the big screen adaptation of the hit video game franchise Hitman. The project, penned by Skip Woods, tells of Agent 47, a ruthless gun for hire who has a clean-shaven head and always wears a stylish black suit, who is hired by "the Agency" to kill targets for cash.

For the second time, Madonna will work with H&M to create a line of women's clothing. The fashion line will be called M by Madonna and will be in stories in March. Earlier this year, H&M designed Madonna's offstage outfits for her Confessions tour.

Hayden Christensen will join The Madison Kid where he will play professional poker player Phil "The Brat" Hellmuth. Bob Soderstrom, a friend of Hellmuth's, penned the screenplay. In 1989, Hellmuth became the youngest player in the world to win the World Series of Poker by defeating Johnny Chan. Hellmuth was a college student at the University of Wisconsin before dropping out to join the poker circuit, much to the chagrin of his father.

Sony/Columbia Pictures has acquired the rights to a new Cleopatra film that Scott Rudin will produce. The feature will be written by Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Stacy Schiff. Schiff has made a seven-figure publishing deal for Cleopatra with Little Brown and will complete the book in 2009.

Grammy-winning pop singer Mariah Carey is trying to block porn star-turned politician Mary Carey from trademarking her similar-sounding stage name, saying that fans could get the two performers confused. But the adult film actress, whose real name is Mary Cook, says that she will not be intimidated by the international superstar and will press forward with her trademark application.

Gary Dauberman will co-write the screenplay for producer Guillermo del Toro on the big screen adaptation of Deadman based on the DC comic book. Del Toro is looking to possibly direct the feature as well. The comic book told of a murdered circus acrobat who has the power to possess the living in order to find his killer and help the innocent. Del Toro is producing the film along with Angry Film' Don Murphy and Susan Montford.
