Cars
Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters, including Sally, a snazzy 2002 Porsche, Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, and Mater, a rusty but trusty tow truck, who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship. Another piece of Pixar magic.

For Don Haskins, the dream was always about winning even when the odds were completely stacked against you. What Haskins didn't know in 1966 is that his underdog team's incredible victory would transcend sport and change not only his life and the lives of his players, but the country itself. Haskins and his scrappy Texas Western Miners were unwittingly about to revolutionize basketball when Haskins decided to play an all African American opening lineup at the NCAA championships against the all white juggernaut of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Haskins did it to win. But his bold decision would help break down barriers of segregation as his team played their hearts out.

Avi Arad recently revealed that there aren't just three villains in Spider-Man 3, there are four. Arad stated "Right we have four villains. Pretty soon [we'll reveal the fourth villain] I believe. Maybe around Comic Con we'll reveal something and the madness will begin." He confirmed that the three villains so far are Venom, Sandman, and the new Green Goblin.

The Black Eyed Peas are working with Snickers. The group have created a series of comic-book style online films in which they become superheroes. In the digital episodes, the four members pose as Snickers factory workers by day and then become defenders of old school hip hop by night.

Superman Returns will be moving from its June 30th release date up two days to June 28th. This will give the Man of Steel additional time to reap in some box office bucks before Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest hits theaters on July 7th.

Green Day have not abandoned their plans to turn American Idiot into a movie. In fact, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says, "It's definitely going to happen." The trio had been kicking around the idea since the album's release, but no definite plans have been made yet.

Jay-Z may soon be adding another credit to his long list of accomplishments by becoming a casino boss. Associates for the rap mogul are reportedly in talks to franchise his popular Atlantic City hotspot the 40/40 Club with a casino in Las Vegas. A rep for the club also confirmed plans to open up franchises in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai and South Korea.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Foo Fighters have signed on to headline the second annual Amsterjam Festival at Randall's Island in New York on August 19th. Last year the festival paired up rock acts and rappers to create live "mash-ups" on stage, and this year festival organizers say that the Heartbreakers and Foo Fighters will play their own sets and then join together on stage to "mash-up" one of each band's songs.

Jessica Simpson has made an insulting divorce settlement offer to her ex Nick Lachey. Several sources report the pop star has offered Lachey a paltry US$1.5 million dollars. In 2004 alone Simpson raked in $30 million dollars.

Mariah Carey was finally rewarded for all those short short shorts and mini skirts she wears. The diva was the first-ever recipient of the Gillette Venus Celebrity Legs of a Goddess award.

Fresh off a ratings dominating second season, the cast of Grey's Anatomy has a new milestone to celebrate, a bigger payday. The show's principal cast members have each pocketed a cool $200,000 bonus from Touchstone Television as thanks for a timeslot well done.

Justin Timberlake fans excited to see the pop star in his next film, Alpha Dog, may not have to wait as long as they thought. Variety reports that the early 2007 release for the film may be moved to December 2006 so it qualifies for the next Academy Awards.

Paris Hilton has some more barbed words for her former BFF and Simple Life costar, Nicole Richie. "I'm the nice one, she's the evil one,” says Paris. She goes on to say that fame changed Richie. Nicole, however, responded from the moral high ground, characterizing their falling out as a simple case of losing touch.

Last summer's Wedding Crashers was the big winner at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, collecting three prizes, including the coveted Golden Popcorn trophy for best movie.

Warner Bros. has purchased the script Take My Wife, which was written by Broken Lizard member Paul Soter (Super Troopers). Jay Chandrasekhar will direct the comedy about an average Joe who swaps wives with a Hollywood superstar, setting off a disastrous chain of events afterwards.

Len Wiseman (Underworld) is in talks to direct Bruce Willis in Die Hard 4. Previously titled Die Hard 4.0, the feature will have Detective John McClane going against an Internet terror organization.

Sean Bean will be joining The Hitcher, a remake of the 1986 horror film. Sophia Bush (TV's One Tree Hill) is already on board. The script follows a young couple driving across the country who falls victim to a maniacal killer (Bean), who blames all of his murders on the young man.

Topher Grace will star in Kids in America for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. The film follows one night in the life of a group of recent college grads. Universal Pictures has purchased the rights to Hurricane Season, a drama that takes place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Both the movie and the documentary will tell the true story of the football team at East St. John High outside New Orleans. The team struggled with integrating displaced students from surrounding high school teams, and tried to help rebuild their community after Katrina.
