Anvil! The Story Of Anvil
The story of Canadian metal band Anvil, whose 1982 album sold millions of
records, but plunged into obscurity soon after. At 14, Toronto school friends
Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock
together forever. Their band, Anvil, went on to become the demigods of Canadian
metal, releasing one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982's Metal on
Metal. It went on to sell millions of records, but Anvil's career didn't
flourish afterwards. An inspirational story of friendship, morality and holding
on to your dreams.

Bedtime Stories
Hotel handyman Skeeter Bronson's (Adam Sandler) life is changed
forever when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to
mysteriously come true. He attempts to take advantage of the phenomenon,
incorporating his own aspirations into one outlandish tale after another, but
it's the kids' unexpected contributions that turn Skeeter's life upside down.
The Buzz..
You can put the
Jon & Kate Plus 8 divorce rumors to rest. "I am not perfect. This
struggle has definitely put some tension in our marriage," admits Jon
Gosselin in an interview with Ladies' Home Journal. But
I never cheated on Kate. Kate and I are together." Of course, these comments are
coming after Jon was photographed having a night out on the town with some
college girls, whom he insists are just fans. These tensions were felt in the
show's fourth season finale, during which Jon observed, "I can't just be Jon; I
have to be 'Jon & Kate Plus 8,' which is a really hard thing for me. I'm still
coming to grips with that."
When a workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaked to the Web last week,
most reviewers refused to not only watch it, but many refused to publish reviews
from people who had claimed to see it. Unfortunately, FOX News
entertainment reporter Roger Friedman was one of those who not
only sought out the film, but wrote a review. (Sources say the print released
did not include several million dollars' worth of reshoots to smooth out the
plot; it also featured temporary special and sometimes non-existent effects.)
Rumors swirled about Friedman's fate, but FOX News confirmed he had been fired.
Lindsay
Lohan finally admitted that she split with girlfriend Samantha
Ronson, but what she initially tried to keep hush-hush has become a messy,
public case of she said, she said. "We are taking a brief break so I can focus
on myself," the 22-year-old first confirmed to E! News. It wasn't the most
surprising news, especially since so much was played out on the Internet. Last
Friday, Ronson had security bar Lohan from entering a party at Bar Marmont for
her sister, designer Charlotte Ronson. Both families were staying at the Chateau
Marmont at the time, and LiLo reportedly tried to barge into the DJ's brother's
room.
FOX's just-announced dating show More to Love doesn't have a cast yet,
but it's got a premiere date. The series, in which a "husky hunk" (as the
network puts it) will look for love along with a bevy of plus-size women, will
debut Tuesday, July 28. That's a pretty fast track for a show which was
announced only a week ago and had its first open casting calls over the weekend.
The Hangover is sticking around. Warner Bros. has already
commissioned a sequel to the comedy, which doesn't open in theaters until June
5. WB isn't the only studio gambling millions on anticipated audience approval:
A sequel is also already being written for Paramount's Star Trek
reboot, which beams down May 8. The Hangover follows three groomsmen whose Las
Vegas bachelor party is so successful they lose the groom and must retrace their
hazy, alcohol dimmed exploits to find him.
Friday Night Lights executive producer Jason Katims'
schedule just got even busier. Friday Night Lights just got renewed for two more
seasons, and he's also writing NBC's Parenthood pilot. Now, he's taking
on another exec producing gig, this time on an NBC project that aims to put a
modern day spin on The Wizard of Oz. The project is called Dorothy
Gale and comes from fellow FNL writer Bridget Carpenter. It will follow a
young woman who moves from Kansas to New York (presumably not by means of a
tornado picking up her house) and gets a job in the art world, working for a
wicked boss.
Maria Bello will be joining the cast of the untitled Adam
Sandler comedy that stars an ensemble of alumni from Sandler's previous
films. Fred Wolf and Sandler co-wrote the script about a group of high school
friends who reunite 30 years later. The film stars Sandler along with Kevin
James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David
Spade, Salma Hayek and Maya Rudolph.
The Playstation 2 game Shadow of the Colossus will be adapted into
a bigscreen film. The videogame was released in 2005 and told of a man named
Wander who travels across a wasteland to defeat 16 creatures known as the
Colossi. His mission? To restore the life of a girl. The film will build upon
the fantasy setting and will use few characters outside of the 16 enemies.
Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) has been cast as the new Freddy
Krueger in Platinum Dunes' and New Line Cinema's remake of A Nightmare on
Elm Street. The movie is a reboot to the Nightmare franchise, diving into
the origins of Freddy Krueger and his terror on teens as they dream on Elm
Street. Kyle Gallner (The Haunting in Connecticut) is up for the
role that Johnny Depp played in the original.
Hollywood star Kal Penn has swapped television's House for the
White House. The 31 year old actor, who made his mark as the pot smoking Kumar
in the Harold and Kumar feature film comedies, will become associate director in
the White House office of public liaison. He campaigned for U.S. President
Barack Obama, expressed interest in working for his administration, and got a
job offer a few months ago. In his new role he will "do outreach" with the
American public and with different organizations.
The original Beatles catalog has been digitally remastered for the first
time and went on sale in CD format on September 9. The release will coincide
with the launch of The Beatles: Rock Band video game, the British
quartet's first major leap into the world of digital music.
Coldplay say theyre not guilty of stealing music. Lawyers denied that
Coldplay stole parts of Joe Satriani's song If I Could Fly
for their track Viva La Vida. Satriani sued Coldplay in December over the
song similarities. Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, who is
friends with Coldplay's Chris Martin, claims that they are
completely innocent.
Kanye West's designed Air Yeezy Nikes retail for $260 but
they've already been spotted on eBay for over $600. Livestock
co-owner Skam explained why these kicks are such a phenomenon. "Its basically
Nike's first shoe with someone that's not an athlete," he said.
Vin Diesel has surprised us all, and blown North American box
office records away with the release of his latest movie Fast and Furious.
The film grossed over $72-million over the weekend, having the best April
opening ever. Box office ticket sales were actually up 68 percent from last
year.
