X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Hugh Jackman reprises the role that made him a superstar as the
fierce fighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, retractable claws
and a primal fury. Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine
tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex
relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way,
Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise
appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe whose appearances in the
film series have long been anticipated.

The Wrestler
Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke), a 1980s era pro
wrestler, has become a burnt out shell of his former self. After he has a heart
attack during a small time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights
again. In an effort to build a new life, Robinson takes a job at a deli, moves
in with an aging stripper and tries to build a relationship with her son. But
the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis, the Ayatollah, proves too
tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life.
The Buzz..
Avril
Lavigne has been chosen as the Canadian ambassador for the 2010 World
Expo which is being held in Shanghai, China next year. The singer is hugely
popular in China. The expo takes place in May 2010. What exactly the ambassador
does, we don’t know.
The original dress Madonna wore in her 1985 video Material Girl
is up for sale. The pink satin gown, along with the glittery costume jewelry and
fake fur stole, are up for auction in London. It's yours if you can afford
around $150,000.
Rihanna wants some of her very expensive jewelry back from by police. The
singer’s bling, worth a reported $1.4 million, were taken by police the night of
the alleged attack by Chris Brown. A pair of earrings and three
rings were on loan to Rihanna.
You know you've made it when you become a cartoon character, which has just
happened to Hills star Lauren Conrad. The reality TV star will
appear as herself on the May 3 episode of Family Guy. Supposedly
LC is portrayed as an "intellectual genius" in the episode. And based on the
preview we watched, she has "relations" with Brian the Dog.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin is having regrets for a
night out partying in which he was photographed a woman other than his wife,
Kate Gosselin, who was away on business. "My family is the most
important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt
them," says Gosselin. Gosselin, 32, is the star of TLC's reality show Jon & Kate
Plus 8 with his wife and two sets of multiples. An Us Weekly cover story
brandishes the headline: "Caught with another woman" and inside are pics of him
with a female friend leaving a Pennsylvania club around 2 a.m.
NBC is betting that televised poker can be a prime time draw for viewers,
at least for a couple of Saturday nights in the summer. The network has ordered
a new series called Face the Ace that will pit amateur players against
professional poker stars for a pot that could reach $1 million. The series,
hosted by former Sopranos regular Steve Schirripa, will
debut at 9 p.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 1 and air in primetime for two weeks. It will
then move to its regular home on Saturday afternoons starting in September. The
show comes from Poker Productions, the same outfit that produces NBC's late
night franchise Poker After Dark.
Economic woes aside, NBC is figuring that viewers still want to watch
people get fired on The Celebrity Apprentice. The network
announced that it's picked up the unscripted series for a third season, which
will debut in spring 2010. It joins fellow returnees The Office,
30 Rock, The Biggest Loser, Friday Night
Lights and Law & Order: SVU on NBC's 2009-10 schedule; the
network will announce its full lineup next week.
Sean Penn has filed for legal separation from his wife, actress
Robin Wright Penn. The couple had initially separately filed for divorce in
February, but had the petition dismissed in April 2008. They were seen together
at February's Academy Awards ceremony where Penn won an Oscar for
his lead role in Milk. Penn, 48, and Wright Penn, 43, have been married
for 13 years. They have two children together: daughter Dylan Frances, 18, and
Hopper Jack, 15.
Breast cancer survivor and Samantha Who? star Christina
Applegate has been named People magazine's "most beautiful" for 2009.
The 37 year old actress is on the cover of the magazine's annual survey of
pretty people, and also gives her first extensive interview since undergoing a
double mastectomy last summer. She credits her fight against breast cancer with
giving her a "feeling of purpose" and her musician boyfriend Martyn Lenoble,
"who loves me from head to toe," as helping her take a new approach toward life.
Carrie Bradshaw won't be going it solo for the Sex and the City
sequel. Chris Noth has signed on to reprise his role as Mr. Big,
according to Perez Hilton. Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays
Bradshaw, apparently spilled the beans about Noth's involvement while promoting
an unrelated movie at the Tribeca Film Festival. Off and on lovers Bradshaw and
Mr. Big were married in a civil ceremony at the end of the first Sex and the
City movie.
Drop Dead Fred won't stay that way. Universal is moving
forward with a remake of the 1991 comedy with Russell Brand
attached as the title character. The original film starred Phoebe
Cates as a put upon young woman whose semi supernatural imaginary friend
Fred (Rik Mayall) causes havoc in her life.
Linkin Park have let it be known that they're working on the score
to director Michael Bay's much anticipated sequel to Transformers,
the sure to be bigger, louder, faster Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.
These tough financial times have once again sparked interest in a Wall
Street sequel and now it looks like it's even closer to happening. The
trades are reporting that Oliver Stone is reportedly happy with
the current draft of the script and will come on board to helm. While Michael
Douglas isn't officially signed yet, all signs point to him doing so and
Stone's involvement may be just the last thing they need to convince him. It's
also reported that Shia LaBeouf is in talks to join the picture as
well.
Robert Rodriguez has penned Predators, a project that is
being described as a reboot to the Predator franchise that originated
with the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film. It is unclear if
Rodriguez will direct the picture.
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has signed a
record deal with Universal Music. Leighton, who plays queen bee
Blair Waldorf in the teen drama, is working with top notch producers like
Harvey Mason Jr. who produced JT and Pink. The actress
turned singer describes the album as having an electro pop edge.
Kings of Leon just announced Canadian tour dates this summer. They'll be
playing Edmonton on August 12, Calgary on the 13 and Vancouver on the 15.
