District 9
An alien race has come to earth on a one-way ticket, becoming stranded in
Africa. Now seen as yet another mistrusted minority, the non humans live in a
dangerous ghetto and labor for little to no pay. But when a human encounters
some strange non human technology that begins to affect him in disturbing ways,
his perspective on the situation changes drastically. Produced by Oscar winner
Peter Jackson of the Lord of the Rings trilogy

17 Again
Zac Efron stars as a middle aged father who gets a second shot at
life. Mike O'Donnell's glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage is
falling apart, he's been passed over for a promotion at work and his teenage
kids think he's a loser. But Mike is given another chance when he is magically
transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but
his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009. And in
trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever
happened to him.
The Buzz..
Frank
Langella knows greed is good, and he wants Shia LaBeouf to
know it too. Langella has signed on to play LaBeouf's mentor in Wall
Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. The sequel to the 1987 movie (in which
Michael Douglas' Gordon Gekko declared "greed is good") will be
directed by Oliver Stone. Douglas will reunite for Wall Street 2
with Stone, who also directed the first film.
Four new Wolverines are ready to take on homeland security for the Red Dawn
remake. Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor
Cruise and Edwin Hodge are the freedom fighters in a remake
of the 1984 actioner.
The hits keep coming for Rachelle Lefevre. Catherine
Hardwicke, director of the first Twilight movie says that Lefevre got
the role of villainous vampire Victoria because it was too low profile for their
first choice Bryce Dallas Howard. Howard, of course, has
replaced Lefevre on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, setting off a war of
words between Lefevre (who claims she was fired for working on a side project)
and Summit Entertainment.
Van Halen fans will want to mark down December 22nd on their
calendars. Guitar Hero: Van Halen will hit stores on that day. All 28 Van
Halen songs that will be included in the game date from the band's first
incarnation, when David Lee Roth sang lead. Also of note is that longtime
bassist Michael Anthony is conspicuously absent from the game,
replaced by the band's current bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen,
who wasn't even alive when many of these songs were recorded. Nineteen non-Van
Halen tracks will also be included on Guitar Hero: Van Halen, by acts as diverse
as Foreigner, Deep Purple, Blink-182 and the
Clash.
Josh Duhamel will star opposite Katherine Heigl in
the romance Life as We Know It. The film tells of two unattached adults
who find love when their mutual best friends die in a car accident and are named
in the will as caretakers for their orphaned daughter.
Hugh Jackman will play P.T. Barnum in The Greatest
Showman on Earth, a contemporary musical to be written by Jenny
Bicks. Jackman will play the showman who went on to create one of the
largest circuses that made him famous. The musical will also tell of his
relationship with Jenny Lind. Anne Hathaway is being courted for
the role of Lind.
Reportedly, the owner of Michael Jackson's former home amusement park is
seriously considering moving Neverland to Las Vegas. If the
ranch does make the move, the idea would be to turn it into a Graceland
style tourist attraction. In order to do that, they should "take physically
everything that's not part of the dirt and reassemble it in Las Vegas," an
insider says.
Country music duo Brooks & Dunn, whose honky tonk bravado catapulted them
to the top of the charts for almost two decades, said they would break up after
a farewell tour next year.
The Fox network will air a two hour special on the life of Octomom
Nadya Suleman, based on footage bought from an online company that
paid for access to her life.
