Up In The Air
Juno's Jason Reitman heads into corporate America territory once
again with this adaptation of Walter Kirn's novel Up in the Air.
The plot surrounds a human resource administrator (George Clooney)
whose life up in the friendly skies becomes his only world. His cherished life
on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million
frequent flyer miles and just after he's met the frequent traveler woman of his
dreams.

(500) Days of Summer
Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) believes in the notion of
romantic love. Summer (Zooey Deschanel) doesn't. But that doesn't
stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote, with
all his might and courage. Tom soon discovers he shares plenty in common with
Summer. By Day 31, things are moving ahead, albeit "casually." By Day 32, Tom is
irreparably smitten, living in a giddy, fantastical world of Summer on his mind.
By Day 185, things are in serious limbo, but not without hope. And as the story
winds backwards and forwards through Tom and Summer's on again, off again,
sometimes blissful, often tumultuous dalliance.
The Buzz...
The Black Eyed Peas want you to be part of their Grammy
performance. The group are asking fans to upload lip-dub videos singing along to
the Peas hit I Gotta Feeling. The best entries will air on a giant
screen behind the Peas during their performance.
Wondering what's the official cause of Brittany Murphy's death?
Well, we're just as clueless as you. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has
just completed its autopsy on the actress, but officials don't plan on
disclosing what they found anytime soon. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter will
withhold the final report on Murphy's shocking death Sunday until he gets
toxicology tests back, which are expected to take up to six weeks. A large
number of prescription drugs were found in the bedroom of Brittany Murphy, who
suffered shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain in the week leading up to
her death, according to an investigator's notes obtained by TMZ.
Beyonce, Taylor Swift and the Black Eyed Peas are
among the megawatt stars set to perform Jan. 31 at the 52nd Grammy
Awards in Los Angeles. Country cutie Swift, whose eight nods are second only
to leading nominee Beyonce's 10, will also present at the show.
Jimmy Fallon fulfilled a Christmas wish for a lot of fans of his
previous work on SNL: He reunited with Horatio Sanz and
performed the famed holiday ditty I Wish It Was Christmas Today.
American Idol could be one season away from jumping the shark as
evidence continues to mount that Simon Cowell is preparing to
bail. Cowell's own brother, Tony, is the latest harbinger of doom for Fox's
singing contest, announcing in his podcast, The Cowell Factor, that his
little sibling is as good as gone. "A press statement is being prepared which
will confirm what everybody expected: Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010
to concentrate on bringing the American version of X Factor to U.S. TV in
2011,"
Are Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Jerry Ferrara no longer part of
each other's entourages? The real life television couple may have called it
quits. Breakup buzz began late last week. Sigler isn't too happy about ending
their romance, which began more than two years ago when they met while working
on Entourage. Reports first surfaced in September 2008 that Sigler, 28,
and Ferrara, 30, had gone off camera with their on camera love affair. They
didn't actually confirm they were more than friends until nine months later,
when Sigler reportedly told Hollyscoop, "This is the first time I've
dated anyone in the industry."
The International Press Academy's 14th Satellite Awards were held
in Century City and Glee and Breaking bad pulled in most of
the television related categories for the night. Glee managed to take home the
win in five different categories, including Kristin Chenoweth's
guest role as well as others for actors Jane Lynch, Matthew
Morrison, and Lea Michele. The show also took home the win for
Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical. Breaking Bad pulled in wins for Best TV
Series, Drama and Bryan Cranston pulled in the best Actor in a
Series, Drama win.
Robert Rodriguez has said that Sin City 2 will not be his
next film, despite reports that production on the movie adaptation of Dark
Horse comic Sin City, written and illustrated by Frank
Miller, will begin in the second half of 2010.
Carrie Underwood's fiance Mike Fisher popped the question
over the weekend, and she was already flashing her new ring last night in
Ottawa. She joined two girlfriends for Mike's hockey game with the Senators, and
her girlfriends seemed quite taken by her huge rock.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson went back to college last week to congratulate
new graduates of the University of Miami. The wrestler turned actor
graduated from the Florida university in 1995 with a degree in Criminology and
Psychology, having also played a starring role in the school's championship
winning American football team. Fourteen years on, he slipped his robe back on
to address the class of 2009. Johnson told students, "Our expectations are high,
and we expect greatness from you."
Adult film star Evan Seinfeld has hit out at his ex-wife Tera
Patrick's allegations their relationship ended when he chose his porn
career over her, insisting their marriage faced problems after she refused to
have sex with him. The busty brunette, who wed Seinfeld in 2004, claims they
split in September when the Oz actor wouldn't sacrifice his adult filmmaking to
save their romance.
Ozzy Osbournes next album will be called Soul Sucka.
Release is expected in June 2010. Besides the title track, other songs include
Let It Die and Diggin Me Down. The album is being co-produced
by Ozzy and Kevin Churko (co-producer on the last Ozzy last album,
Black Rain). Soul Sucka will be the first Ozzy recording to feature new his
guitarist, Gus G. Blasko (bass), Mike Bordin (drums) and
Adam Wakeman (keyboards) make up the rest of the band.
Now that Kings Of Leon have wrapped up their touring, the band are
reportedly planning to take a well deserved break. Nathan Followill
tells Q magazine the band are planning to take six months off. He says he
plans to sit on his couch and eat chocolate chip cookie ice cream, and then move
on to golfing, fishing and camping. Still, the drummer reports they've already
gotten a jump on their next album. He says they've written about ten songs for
the record so far.
