Angels & Demons
When Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) discovers evidence of the
resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati, the most
powerful underground organization in history, he also faces a deadly threat to
the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic
Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable
Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra,
a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop hunt through
sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and even to the heart of
the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old
trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.

Former government operative Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) begins the
longest 96 hours of his life, and the hunt for the fearsome organization that
has taken his daughter Kim. Mills had only recently given up his government
career as what he calls a "preventer" to be near Kim, who lives with Bryan's
ex-wife Lenore and her new husband. To make ends meet, Bryan joins some former
colleagues for special security details (like guarding a pop diva), but most of
his time and energy are spent re-connecting with Kim. Bryan's worst fears are
realized when Kim and her friend Amanda are suddenly abducted in Paris. Moments
before Kim is dragged away by the as yet unseen and unknown assailants, she
manages to phone Bryan, who begins to expertly piece together clues to save his
daughter.
The Buzz..
You can't get
anything past Twitter these days, not even the new Twilight
script. Apparently 105 pages of the script for New Moon was leaked
on someone's Twitter page, which has since been locked. In the script, Bella
dreams she's an old lady who's still together with the forever young Edward. It
hasn't been verified whether the leaked New Moon script is real, but if not,
there's a Twilight fan out there with a lot of time on their hands.
Green Day must have a thing for U.K. bands. Billie Joe
Armstrong and company have picked Franz Ferdinand and the
Kaiser Chiefs to open for half of their U.S. tour. The Kaisers will
warm things up for Green Day between late July and early August while Franz
Ferdinand will spend most of August opening for the band.
Keanu Reeves is becoming king of the sci-fi remakes. Fresh off his
appearance in 2008's updated The Day the Earth Stood Still, Reeves will
explore his dark side in a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson's The
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Oprah Winfrey promised free chicken, and folks wanting a taste of
the feathered friend cried fowl when they were denied the treat in a New York
City KFC. It appears that the fast food chain ran out of the new grilled
chicken.
Trent Reznor will take home the Webby award for special
achievement this year. The Nine Inch Nails leader will get the honor for
releasing his album The Slip as a free download last year. The
timing is a bit ironic, considering that, as reported yesterday, Reznor is
currently feuding with Apple over their refusal to carry an update to his
iPhone app due to what they consider objectionable material. The Webbys,
which recognize excellence on the Internet, will be handed out June 8th in New
York City.
It's no secret Eminem likes superheroes. And now Em's becoming a
character in a comic book. The rapper goes head to head with the Punisher
in two stories. The first part of Eminem/Punisher: Kill You comes free in
the June issue of XXL magazine; the second part is available at marvelcomics.com
for free. Eminem’s new album Relapse drops May 19.
Ozzy Osbourne will be honored this year at the second annual
Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, California. Ozzy will be
honored September 10th with a tribute event that kicks off the three day
festival. The tribute event recognizes icons who have made an impact on the
legacy of the Sunset Strip.
If you liked Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in X-Men Origins:
Wolverine, you won't have to wait for another X-Men movie to see him again:
He's getting his own film. Plans are underway for 20th Century Fox to team up
with Marvel to put out a X-Men Origins: Deadpool film with Reynolds as
the lead star. Lauren Shuler Donner, who produced the X-Men series, will produce
the spin-off.
Hugh Jackman is sharpening his claws for another Wolverine film,
with the sequel to be set in Japan. Variety reports that another Wovlerine film
is just one of many projects that may be on Jackman's upcoming plate. Jackman
just closed a deal to star in Personal Security where Jackman will
play a police detective forced into bodyguard duty. Also on his plate is
Drive, a film where Jackman's character races cars by days and drives
getaway cars at night. Also in the works are Broadway themed projects such as
Carousel and a film adaptation of The Boy from Oz.
Used Guys, a project which was to have starred Ben
Stiller and Jim Carrey, is now being resurrected at 20th
Century Fox. Variety reports that the plug was pulled from the film
three years ago but the futuristic sci-fi comedy is now being rewritten as a
romantic comedy. Ben Stiller is still attached to the project. Reese Witherspoon
is reportedly in talks to star as the female lead.
Coldplay are on the defensive again. Drummer Will Champion
has denied Cat Stevens' accusations that the group ripped off one
of his songs for their track Viva La Vida. The band is already fighting
guitarist Joe Satriani who has sued them for stealing riffs for
the same song.
Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen has become the third
cast-mate to moonlight as a musician. Her band, The Pretty Reckless, have
a deal with Interscope Records.
Trekkies descended upon the small town of Vulcan, Alberta, on
Wednesday night for the premiere of the new Star Trek movie. Studio
Paramount initially denied the town the privilege, but after original Spock
Leonard Nimoy weighed in, they won the bid. Canadian actor Bruce
Greenwood, who plays Captain Pike in the film, was on hand for the
intergalactic event. Star Trek beamed itself up to the top of the box office,
earning $76.5 million in its opening weekend.
Michael Jackson has been sued again, this time by his publicist.
Raymone Bain is seeking $44 million. Shouldn't she know MJ's broke? She says the
king of pop never paid her for several negotiations she settled for him,
including the upcoming concerts he has booked this summer at London’s O2 Arena.
Virgin Festival is headed to Montreal and Nova Scotia for the
first time ever. The Montreal fest takes place on Ile Ste-Helene on June 19 and
20. Day one performers include Black Eyed Peas, Simple
Plan and Hedley. Day 2 headliners include New Kids on the Block
and Akon.
Comedian Joan Rivers was hired by mogul Donald Trump
and poker champ Annie Duke was fired on the final faceoff of the
reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice.
Activision Blizzard is releasing three new music based video games
this year; DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5 and Band
Hero, and has confirmed that Guitar Hero: Van Halen is on tap.
