Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a
young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and
irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the
box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button.
But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human
being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to
have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the
cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their
humanity.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
New York City subway dispatcher Walter Garber's (Denzel Washington)
ordinary day is thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a
subway train. Ryder (John Travolta), a criminal mastermind, leads
a highly armed gang of four, threatening to execute the train's passengers
unless a large ransom is paid within one hour. As the tension mounts beneath his
feet, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to
outwit Ryder and save the hostages. But there's one riddle Garber can't solve:
even if the thieves get the money, how can they possibly escape?
The Buzz..
Taylor
Swift and Taylor Lautner have been spotted together again.
The rumoured lovebirds were snapped leaving a Hollywood restaurant and then
taking off in Lautner’s car. Earlier this week the singer and the Twilight star
were seen taking in an L.A. Kings game.
Despite reports that Lost's hottest bikini wearer ever Maggie
Grace is coming back to the ABC cult fave, Maggie has not yet signed
on to return for the final season. A rep for the actress says "It has not been
confirmed that [Maggie] is returning [to Lost]. She has been asked, but nothing
more than that."
U2 are in the record books once again. The band’s recent show at the
Rose Bowl in California broke the record for the best attended single
concert performance at a U.S. venue by one headliner.
Soulja Boy Tell’em will be guesting on the upcoming albums by both
Rihanna and Chris Brown. In an interview with MTV News, the
rapper revealed that he has contributed raps to each of the former couple’s
albums. As far as taking sides, Soulja Boy seems impartial. He didn’t hold back
on sharing his feelings towards Brown though, saying, “I got nothing but love
for Chris, that’s my homeboy.”
Kate Gosselin says she regrets berating and bossing around her
estranged husband, Jon, on episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8, conceding she
was "wrong to treat him that way." "I was very hard on him and I would never
deny that," Gosselin told Natalie Morales on TLC special
Kate: Her Story. "I felt very much like a lot of weight rested on my shoulders."
The matriarch was often captured chewing out her husband on the early seasons of
the show and says critics were right "to a degree" that she emasculated him.
After the announcement of adding Shakira and Christie Brinkley,
along with the appearance of America's Next Top Model's YaYa Dacosta,
you'd think Ugly Betty couldn't get any better. But it seems as though this
season will be welcoming yet another big shot guest star. Fisher
Stevens of Early Edition fame will be joining the ABC drama.
Having declared
bankruptcy last month, the Dutch bank Dsb had to withdraw its sponsorship of the
U.S. speedskating team. As Stephen Colbert said on his show, “This
is the most tragic consequence of the global banking meltdown.” So, what did
Colbert do about it? He signed the papers to make the “Colbert Nation” the
team's official sponsor.
Comcast is set to own NBC Universal and all channels that
are part of it as early as next week. This could change the entire television
landscape and pretty much give us less of a selection in terms of entertainment.
The rumor is that Comcast is going to keep the cable channels, then sell the NBC
network. News Corporation expressed interest in the property, but the Comcast
talks progressed along far enough to eliminate other potential buyers. It could
be argued that having MSNBC partially owned by the same owners of Fox
News is a bit of a conflict of interest.
Moises Arias has gotten himself a new gig on Disney, aside
from playing the spoiled Rico on Hannah Montana. He's really
involved in sports, seeing as how he's starred in The Perfect Game and is
working on a new movie called Motocross Madness. That's probably
why he's landed a role in a sports series for the network, titled Moises
Rules! The new show is a type of short, which enables kids to challenge
the 15 year old star in a number of sports competitions. Some of the games are
tetherball and even finger football, and if Arias wins he gets to brag by
proclaiming "Moises Rules!"
Smallville is certainly on its way to becoming the longest running show
on The CW's current line-up, and it's not stopping there. As though the
series itself had superpowers, it's refusing to end and is getting ready for yet
another season. When executive producer Kelly Souders was
interviewed by EW's Michael Ausiello, she spilled the beans. Despite a slight
drop in ratings due to the show's move to Friday nights, Smallville is slowly
proving it's as strong as its protagonist. "We are really, really pushing for
season 10," Souders told the publication.
I didn't think it was possible for any movie to be too big for Michael
Bay, especially not a Transformers movie. But judging from this
candid DVD extra, even Bay thinks Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen veered on
excessive, and he's promising to scale back when he tackles #3.
Owen Wilson will return to Marley and Me territory while voicing
the title character in Marmaduke, a live-action CGI adaptation of the one panel
comic strip about everybody's favorite mischievous Great Dane.
