Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page) has grown unhappy with the apparent
small town Texas life of Friday night football and beauty pageant competition.
She picks up a flyer for a Roller Derby event, schemes to attend, gets invited
to try out and becomes Babe Ruthless, her alter-ego roller derby character. She
makes the team, lies about her age, works hard to succeed, experiences her first
love with the young lead singer of an Indie rock band, gets disappointed in
love, bonds with her new family of roller derby girls, fights with her mother to
escape the beauty pageant and live her new dream as roller derby star. She
manages to reconcile all of this, impress and win over her parents and friends,
and charts an ambiguous goal to move to Austin, continue with Roller Derby, and
live her new life.

The Buzz..
Reality TV star
Nicole Richie was hurt in a traffic accident in Beverly Hills. The
28 year old Richie was driving a Land Rover on Wilshire Blvd. when she was rear
ended by a photographer who was driving without a license. Richie complained of
pain but opted to seek her own treatment and no ambulance was called. Edwardo
Arrivebene, 29, a freelance photographer, was arrested on suspicion of
driving without a license.
Bravo's Real Housewives franchise has infected Washington. The cable
network announced that it's picking up The Real Housewives of D.C. and
renewing The Real Housewives of New Jersey for a second season. In the
D.C. version, the franchise will focus on women who have influence in Washington
culture, whether it's through political galas, fundraisers and other society
events.
Ozzy Osbourne says his family's reality show was an "experiment
that went wildly out of control". The Osbournes, which ran from 2002 to 2005,
showed the often chaotic domestic life of the star, his wife Sharon and
children Jack and Kelly. It introduced the Black Sabbath
singer to a new crop of fans, who were hooked by his bumbling ineptitude at
everyday tasks like working a TV remote. But the star says the attention was
"really creepy". "It was as if I went to bed in one world and woke up in a
completely different world," the 60 year old said.
Swine Flu has its latest victim: Brian Littrell of the
Backstreet Boys. A very apologetic B-Rock posted a video on
YouTube explaining that the virus has forced the group to cancel their New
York appearances, including an autograph signing at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Seth Rogen's Green Hornet has had its share of
problems, but now that filming has started, he's looking good. A new set photo
surfaced today of Rogen in his Hornet getup. The movie, based on a pulp fiction
character and most famous for a 1966 television series, follows Britt Reid, a
descendant of the Lone Ranger, who fights crime alongside his kung-fu master
chauffeur Kato. Cameron Diaz will co-star as Reid's love interest.
The production has been beset with problems, from actors dropping out to delays
in the release date. Green Hornet will buzz to theaters Dec. 22, 2010.
MTV will air DJ AM’s documentary about drug addiction. The network
announced today that the eight episode series called Gone Too Far will
premiere Monday, October 12th. The show follows the late DJ working with real
life addicts and their families, helping them battle their addiction.
We could hear more of Robert Pattinson’s music, if he can find the time.
The Twilight star has admitted that if his busy schedule allows him, he’s hoping
to contribute to the soundtrack for next year’s Eclipse, the franchise’s
second sequel, which is currently being shot in Vancouver.
Lady Gaga, U2, Scarlett Johansson, Rufus
Wainwright and Courtney Love performed Sunday night at
Carnegie Hall to raise money to fight AIDS in Africa. The event was a 50th
birthday celebration for Bono’s long time friend Gavin Friday and was part of
the (Red) Nights concert series. Of course, it was Lady Gaga’s
revealing clothes or lack thereof that stole the show during her intimate
performance of Pokerface.
Waking up in Vegas? More like waking up in Thailand. Katy Perry
and UK comedian Russell Brand have begun a whirlwind romance. The
couple first met at last year’s 2008 MTV VMAs, but apparently dove
right into a fling at Lady Gaga’s VMAs after party. Following that they took off
on a secret two week romantic getaway to Thailand.
Jay-Z is planning to release yet another greatest hits collection next
month. Jay-Z’s spokesperson said that the rapper’s old label Def Jam
will be putting out a new greatest hits album out on November 24th. Although
there will little information given about the release we can tell you that it
will be Hova’s fourth “best of” compilation to date.

pictures of her wedding to Guy Ritchie that she said had been
stolen from her home.

advertisements from Fox News in the U.K. after customers
complained about the cable news channel's Glenn Beck program.

million, claiming the group used portions of two songs by a German musician on
their last album Chinese Democracy.
Kate Gosselin says her estranged husband has withdrawn $230,000
from their joint bank account, leaving just $1,000 behind, and she can't pay her
bills.
