Law Abiding Citizen
Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is an upstanding family man whose
wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion. When the killers
are caught, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia
prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Over his objections, Nick is forced by his
boss to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying
against his accomplice. Fast forward ten years. The man who got away with murder
is found dead and Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt. Then he issues a
warning to Nick: Either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family, or
key players in the trial will die. Soon Shelton follows through on his threats,
orchestrating from his jail cell a string of spectacularly diabolical
assassinations that can be neither predicted nor prevented. Philadelphia is
gripped with fear as Shelton's high profile targets are slain one after another
and the authorities are powerless to halt his reign of terror. Only Nick can
stop the killing, and to do so he must outwit this brilliant sociopath in a
harrowing contest of wills in which even the smallest misstep means death. With
his own family now in Shelton's crosshairs, Nick finds himself in a desperate
race against time facing a deadly adversary who seems always to be one step
ahead.

The Proposal
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds star in a romantic
comedy where corporate ambition makes for strange bedfellows. Margaret Tate is a
hard nosed executive who makes life miserable for her overworked assistant
Andrew Paxton. But when Margaret is threatened with deportation to her native
Canada, the quick thinking exec announces that she and Andrew are engaged to be
married. Andrew agrees to go along with her scheme, if there's a long awaited
promotion in it for him. But in order to keep up appearances, she must help
celebrate his grandmother's 90th birthday in Alaska, where the future in-laws
teach her a thing or two about family.
The Buzz..
FlashForward
has earned a full season pickup from ABC, meaning viewers will actually
get to see why the date April 29, 2010, is so important to the show's mystery.
The network announced that it has ordered nine more episodes of FlashForward,
its most watched new series. It joins fellow ABC pickups The Middle,
Modern Family and Cougar Town. The series chronicles
the aftermath of an event when everyone on the planet blacks out for 137 seconds
and sees a vision of what happens on April 29, 2010 (which happens to be a
Thursday near the end of the TV season). Joseph Fiennes, Sonya
Walger and John Cho head the cast.
The man who first brought The X-Men to the big screen, Bryan
Singer, says he'd be interested in making another movie about the mutant
superheroes. Singer, who directed the first two X-Men movies but parted ways
with the franchise prior to X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006, says he has talked
with 20th Century Fox, which released the films, about directing a fourth
installment. No deal is in place, however. The X-Men has been a healthy
franchise for 20th Century Fox since Singer's first film in 2000. All three have
made better than $150 million at the box office, and the Wolverine
spinoff starring Jackson has made about $180 million this year. A Wolverine
sequel and a movie focusing on Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool character
are in development.
Stop us if you've heard this one: A late night talk show host is dating one of
the female members of his show's staff. Nope, it's not David Letterman
we're talking about, and there's no extortion plot involved. People
reports that Jimmy Kimmel is involved with the co-head writer for
Jimmy Kimmel Live, Molly McNearney. Kimmel's
publicist confirmed the relationship between the host, 41, and the 31 year old
McNearney, who's worked on Jimmy Kimmel Live for several years. A source close
to the couple tells the magazine that after Kimmel split with comedian Sarah
Silverman, he and McNearney "both found themselves single, and they
clicked. They're really happy together."
Carrie Underwood, winner of American Idol season 4
and many awards, is returning to FOX to headline her own holiday special,
airing December 7th. The two hour show is tentatively titled Carrie
Underwood: An All Star Holiday Special. Stars joining Ms. Underwood include
Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley and other American Idol
winner David Cook.
The cast of Glee was slated to be part of the annual Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade. Emphasis on was. The show was preparing to march in
the 83rd annual Thanksgiving parade after getting an invite from the department
store chain. That, however, happened without NBC's knowledge, and the network
later vetoed the Glee cast's appearance.
About a third of American homes with televisions now also have at least one DVR,
so it's no surprise that the seven day DVR ratings would grow by more than they
did at this time last year. Nor is it really a huge surprise that the
most-watched shows on live TV, at least those that aren't sporting events, also
tend to gain the most in terms of raw numbers of viewers in DVR. That's been the
pattern for the past couple of seasons, and it was the case for the first week
of the 2009-10 season. Nielsen has released its live plus 7 numbers for
the first official week of the season and in general the shows at the top of the
same day ratings are also at the top of the seven day list too. Grey's
Anatomy was the biggest gainer in raw numbers, adding 2.97 million viewers
from its same day total, while The Mentalist picked up an
additional 2.95 million people.
Riding a wave of success due to their inescapable hit Use Somebody,
Kings Of Leon have announced that they'll release a live DVD on November
10th called Kings of Leon: Live At The O2 London, England. The DVD was
shot June 30th in front of 18 thousand fans on one of the three nights the band
performed at the O2 arena.
Soulja Boy was arrested in an Atlanta suburb on Wednesday night.
The 19 year old rapper was reportedly partying at an abandoned house with about
40 people when the cops arrived after receiving a complaint. Soulja Boy
apparently ran from the cops and has since been charged with the misdemeanour
offence of obstruction. He taken to jail but released on $550 bond after a night
behind bars.
Billy Talent have announced a Canadian tour in 2010. The 19 date
jaunt will begin in Victoria on March 3rd and head across the country until they
end up in Toronto to play their final date on March 28th.
Miley Cyrus has quit Twitter. Miley Cyrus fans will have
much less access to the Hannah Montana star, effective
immediately. Fans going to Miley’s Twitter page were greeted with “sorry, that
page does not exist.”
Kim Kardashian and her family have opened a new cupcake shop in
Beverly Hills. The Kardashians rode in on a horse drawn carriage to celebrate
the opening of Famous Cupcakes, which sells gourmet, organic,
kosher cupcakes. In a stroke of synergy, the pastries will also be featured as
product placement in the family’s reality show, Keeping Up With The
Kardashians.
Jennifer Lopez’s new song Fresh Out Of The Oven has just
hit the internet. However, the Neptunes produced track featuring
Pitbull is apparently not going to be on her upcoming album, Love.
And, while the song was released under the name “Lola,” her rep told People that
“Lola” is not the singer’s new alias.
In case you just can’t get enough of Robert Pattinson, there’s a
new documentary coming out on the Twilight heart throb. A new feature length doc
titled Robsessed (yes, that’s really what it’s called) is said to take a
look at the 23 year old actor’s speedy rise to fame and superstardom. The
“broadcast quality biography” will be out on DVD some time in November, to
coincide with the theatrical release of the second Twilight movie, New
Moon, which hits theatres on November 20th.
Lady Gaga is everywhere right now and soon we’ll see her rubbing
elbows with the cast of Gossip Girl. Following her recent potty
mouthed appearance on Saturday Night Live, the provocative singer is
shooting an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl where she’ll play herself.
Carly Simon has filed a lawsuit against Starbucks for
withdrawing involvement in the company's music label, Hear Music,
just five days before the singer's album was due to come out last year.
Hours after Michael Jackson's first posthumous single This Is
It was released amid great hype on Monday, it emerged that the tune had been
recorded 18 years ago by an obscure Puerto Rican singer. Moreover the co-author
of that tune, My Way songwriter Paul Anka,
threatened to sue Jackson's estate for proper credit and his share of royalties.
