Surrogates
Bruce Willis must investigate a murder in a futuristic society
where human interaction has been replaced by idealized robotic surrogates.
People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via
robotic surrogates, sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of
themselves. It's an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't
exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer
discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his
own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Celebrity photographer Connor Mead (Matthew McConaughey) loves
freedom, fun and women. A committed bachelor who thinks nothing of breaking up
with multiple women on a conference call, Connor's mockery of romance proves a
real buzz kill for his kid brother, Paul (Breckin Meyer), and a
houseful of well wishers on the eve of Paul's wedding. Just when it looks like
Connor may single handedly ruin the wedding, he is visited by the ghosts of his
former jilted girlfriends, who take him on a revealing and hilarious odyssey
through his failed relationships, past, present and future. Together they
attempt to find out what turned Connor into such an insensitive jerk and whether
there is still hope for him to find true love, or if he really is the lost cause
everyone thinks he is.
The Buzz..
A man who has
been targeting starlet's homes has been arrested. Los Angeles police arrested
Nicholas Prugo, 18, in connection to break-ins at Lindsay
Lohan and Audrina Patridge's homes. Lohan's home was
burglarized in August by a young man and woman caught on security cameras. The
same pair had broken into Patridge's home in February. Both times, possessions
were stolen. Prugo is charged with felony burglary and is being held on $20,000
bail. So far, he has not been connected to other celebrity home break-ins that
have occurred in the past year, including the homes of Hayden
Panettiere, Paris Hilton and Rachel Bilson.
So You Think You Can Dance will welcome Adam Shankman, best
known as a director of films such as Hairspray & Step Up 3D, as the third
permanent judge when the 6th season debuts its Top 20 next month.
Kate Gosselin's return to The View allowed her to
discuss her estranged husband Jon Gosselin's alleged affair with
babysitter Stephanie Santoro. "Just based on the behavior of the
last several months, am I surprised? No," said Gosselin during her final guest
co-hosting visit to "The View," addressing Santoro's recent allegations that she
slept with the dad of eight. "It goes back to the police being called, the whole
babysitter thing. This is the babysitter I objected to and I couldn't tell you
why at that time. It was just like my mother's intuition. I did not want her
there."
Avril Lavigne and her hubby Deryck Whibley have both
confirmed on their websites that they are separated. Avril said, “I am grateful
for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining
friendship.” On Sum 41’s MySpace page, Deryck said that quote “Avril and
I are still family and moving forward in the most positive way possible.” The
couple wed back in 2006 and have been together for 6 years.
It's love at first sight, or at least first month, for Khloe
Kardashian. The reality show star is reportedly in a rush to marry Lamar
Odom, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, whom she's only started
dating about a month ago, according to Usmagazine. Kardashian, 25, and Odom, 29,
met at a party in L.A.
Zooey Deschanel, who stars in the romantic film (500) Days of
Summer, has her own romance to celebrate. The 29 year old actress said I do
to Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard, 33. The couple
dated for nearly a year before becoming engaged in December. Deschanel's resume
also includes Elf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The
Happening and Yes Man.
Finally, Susan Boyle graces our shores for the long awaited
America's Got Talent finale performance, and wild horses couldn't drag us
away from our TVs. Boyle, looking classy in a simple black gown and sporting
straightened hair, was met with wild applause before launching immediately into
Wild Horses. The song is a Rolling Stones cover,
making it somewhat familiar for the audience, but it raises the question once
again if Boyle can sell an original song. Her first album I Dreamed a Dream
will be released on Nov. 23, following a U.S. concert tour.
Buckcherry will release their first live album, Live & Loud 2009,
on September 29th. Live & Loud 2009 will feature the band's biggest hits like
Sorry, Crazy Bitch, Lit Up, Ridin and
Everything. The new live album will also feature songs from Buckcherry's
current release Black Butterfly, including Talk To Me.
Ozzy Osbourne is having a good year. He was recently honored at
L.A.'s Sunset Strip Music Festival, and he's preparing to release his memoir
I Am Ozzy. Now, Billboard has announced it will present him with the
Legend of Live award at this year's Billboard Touring Awards ceremony.
Ozzy will be on hand to accept the honor at the November 5th ceremony in New
York.
Beyonce may have won a fan in Taylor Swift, but has now
lost one in Abercrombie & Fitch. The popular clothing firm has filed a
lawsuit against the R&B star after she signed a contract to launch a new perfume
with fragrance company Coty. Abercrombie & Fitch feels Beyonce’s new
smell could infringe on their Fierce product and confuse customers, since
she uses her Sasha Fierce alter ego as a business tool.
Harry Potter is getting his own theme park. Universal
Orlando has announced that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will
open some time in the spring of 2010. The $200 million park will include a major
ride called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, as well as exclusive
merchandise, food, candy and gadgets from the books and films, and an
Ollivanders wand shop, where the experience of having your wand select you is
somehow being developed.
