The Invention Of Lying
In an alternate reality, lying, even the concept of a lie, does not even exist.
Everyone, from politicians to advertisers to the man and woman on the street,
speaks the truth and nothing but the truth with no thought of the consequences.
But when a down on his luck loser named Mark (Ricky Gervais)
suddenly develops the ability to lie, he finds that dishonesty has its rewards.
In a world where every word is assumed to be the absolute truth, Mark easily
lies his way to fame and fortune. But lies have a way of spreading, and Mark
begins to realize that things are getting a little out of control when some of
his tallest tales are being taken as, well, gospel. With the entire world now
hanging on his every word, there is only one thing Mark has not been able to lie
his way into: the heart of the woman he loves.

Toy Story 3D
Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang from Pixar's toy chest return for
their original adventures, this time in 3-D! Woody (Tom Hanks), a
traditional pull string talking cowboy, has long enjoyed a place of honor as the
favorite among six year old Andy's menagerie of toys. Quick to calm their
anxieties about being replaced by newer arrivals, Woody finds his own confidence
shaken, and his status as top toy in jeopardy, upon the arrival of Buzz
Lightyear (Tim Allen), simply the coolest space action figure ever
made. Woody plots to get rid of Buzz, but things backfire and he finds himself
lost in the outside world with Buzz as his only companion. Joining forces to
find their way home, the two rivals set out on an adventure and learn that only
through mutual trust and respect do they have any chance of survival.
The Buzz..
Jon Gosselin's
lawyer has sent cable network TLC documents banning production of renamed
Kate Plus 8 at Jon's family home in Pennsylvania, where Kate and the
children still live. One of the documents reads, in part: "Effective
immediately, no production crews are to enter Jon's family home for any reason.
In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify
the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers." TLC
announced on Sept. 29 that the show formerly named Jon & Kate Plus 8 would
continue as simply "Kate Plus 8." That day, Jon's lawyer reportedly filed the
documents to halt production, as well as court papers to suspend the couple's
divorce proceedings. Jon and Kate Gosselin announced in June that they were
divorcing after several months of speculation about trouble in their marriage.
The episode in which they announced their split set ratings records for TLC with
more than 10 million viewers. Since then, however, ratings have plummeted to
below 2 million for the most recent episode.
Cable giant Comcast Corp. is kicking the tires of NBC Universal,
according to people familiar with the situation. The two companies have been
talking for some time. Comcast, the nation's largest cable operator with almost
25 million subscribers, has been looking to increase its content holdings for
several years and in NBC it would get its hands on not only a big broadcast
network and movie studio, but also several large cable channels, including
USA, Syfy, CNBC, MSNBC and Bravo.
Colm Feore and Jaimie Alexander will join the cast
of Thor, the bigscreen adaptation of the Marvel comic book.
Chris Hemsworth has already been cast in the lead hero role of Thor.
Tom Hiddleston has also been cast as Loki, the movie's villain and
Natalie Portman is Thor's human love, Jane Foster. Alexander will
play Sif, one of Thor's loves but Feore's role is unknown and is being kept a
secret, although it's speculated that he is a villain.
It is perhaps the ultimate pop culture compliment, and now it's been paid to
Mad Men. We're not talking about Emmy Awards or anything like that.
No, this is something way cooler. Mad Men is now the subject of a Sesame
Street parody. As it did with Law & Order: Special Letters Unit a
few years ago, the venerable PBS kids show has translated Mad Men into
Muppet form. Muppet Don Draper and his minions are trying to come up with the
perfect campaign for Happy Honey Bear, and after a couple of failed attempts
they hit on just the right note. Along the way they teach the youngsters about
what mad, sad and happy feelings look like.
The ABC soap opera All My Children will be closing up shop in New
York City after 39 years and moving production to Los Angeles. This means the
large cast has to pick up and move across the country as well. Among the
contract players who will: Brittany Allen, David Canary,
Bobbie Eakes, Melissa Claire Egan,
Stephanie Gatschet, Ricky Paull Goldin,
Vincent Irizarry, Michael E. Knight, Susan Lucci,
Jamie Luner, Adam Mayfield, JR Martinez,
Cameron Mathison, Debbi Morgan, Cornelius
Smith, Jr., Denise Vasi, Darnell Williams and
Jacob Young.
More than a year after the idea first surfaced, a spinoff of Criminal
Minds may see the light of day later this season. CBS and the show's
producers are starting to plan for a planted spinoff of the crime drama, which
would likely air this spring. The spinoff episode will feature a new group of
characters, similar to what CBS has done with its CSI franchise and
NCIS: Los Angeles.
Another celebrity sex tape may be floating around, and morbid curiosity is not
getting the best of us. Screen shots from an alleged sex tape starring Emmy
nominee Sarah Silverman and her former beau, host Jimmy
Kimmel have been leaked.
Former Hills star Lauren Conrad has signed a movie deal.
The reality TV star’s “fictional” book L.A. Candy, about a reality TV
star, is being made into a movie. Twilight producers Temple Hill Entertainment
own the rights to the film, but Conrad will be the executive producer. The book
has been on the New York Times bestsellers list for 14 weeks.
While it’s still not confirmed if he be reprising his role as Jack Sparrow
in a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, Johnny Depp is
revisiting a role he once played: musician. The star is currently working with
British band Babybird on their comeback record, Ex-Maniac. Depp,
who’s a longtime fan of the band, is said to not only be directing a new video
of theirs but also make a cameo performing on the album.
The results have come in on the official cause of DJ AM’s death.
The medical examiner’s office ruled today that DJ AM died of an accidental
overdose of prescription drugs and cocaine. According to the toxicology report,
the DJ born Adam Goldstein had a combination of several drugs in
his system, including cocaine, oxycontin, xanax and vicodin. The exact dosage of
each drug was not released. In other DJ AM news, reportedly MTV will proceed to
air the drug intervention reality show that Goldstein filmed over the past year.
