At The Movies

Arthur
Russell Brand is an irresponsible charmer who must choose between an arranged marriage or an uncertain future with his true love. Arthur Bach has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of lifelong nanny Hobson to keep him out of trouble. Now he faces his biggest challenge; choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can't buy, Naomi, the only woman he has ever loved. With Naomi's inspiration and some unconventional help from Hobson, Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and finally learn what it means to become a man.

The Buzz...

FOX's Sunday animation lineup looks like it will return intact next season, thanks to the network's pickup of Bob's Burgers for a second season.

It was bound to happen at some point with all the smushing going on at Jersey Shore. The network's No. 1 rated reality show has popped out two spinoffs for three of its stars. MTV announces it has greenlit two untitled new shows spawned from the controversial show starring Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, and DJ Pauly Delvecchio. "We're excited to put the spotlight on their lives away from the shore as they pursue their individual passions, careers and relationships," says MTV's programming EVP, Chris Linn. "Both series are fun, fresh ways for us to evolve what is an already successful brand for us."

For the first time in Bravo history, a member of its flagship reality franchise has received the axe: The Real Housewives of Washington D.C. has been canceled after one season. That still leaves more than enough Housewives to go around: There’s Orange County, New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Miami and, of course, New Jersey. Though D.C. had decent ratings, executives found the cast a bit stiff compared to the menopausal rage that spiced up some of the other shows in the franchise; particularly fellow newcomer Beverly Hills, which doubled D.C.’s ratings in its finale.

In these tight economic times, saving a few bucks here and there is apparently quite the popular topic among television viewers. The debut of Tlc's new reality offering Extreme Couponing scored big in the ratings. The new series averaged 2.3 million viewers over back to back episodes from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., driving it to the top ranking in ad-supported cable among all key demos.

The iconic genie bottle featured in the 1960s hit sitcom I Dream Of Jeannie is set to be featured at the Smithsonian museum. On the classic U.S. show, a magical genie, played by Barbara Eden, appears when the bottle is rubbed and is able to grant her master wishes with the blink of an eye. Eden still owns the original set piece made famous by the show and has decided to donate it to collectors at the Smithsonian Institution.

This week Duff McKagan dropped a bombshell when he confirmed that Slipknot and Stone Sours Corey Taylor has in fact been in the studio with Velvet Revolver: “We recorded a bunch of songs with Corey. I think he’s f**king great. Whether he’s in Velvet Revolver or not…’cause I’m at a point where I can see things with a bigger view, you know, it’s not all about me… I think he’s the best voice of a new generation. The best rock ‘n’ roll voice out there. He’s got a lot of positive energy. I’d be proud to do anything with him."

The best music video of the year (as I believe it should be referred to) has released a teaser trailer to get fans ready for the big premiere. Back in January we told you that the Beastie Boys were planning on remaking the iconic Fight For Your Right (To Party) video with half of Hollywood. Today we get to see about a quarter of the cast as they portray the past and future Beastie Boys. Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride make up the future Beastie Boys team, while Will Ferrel, Jack Black and John C. Reilly make up the oldies. Will Arnett, Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon, Ted Danson and Rainn Wilson are also seen in the trailer.

It’s no secret Kanye West likes himself a good scarf. Whenever he’s in the front row of [insert city] Fashion Week, Yeezy is not to be seen without something around his neck. Being such a connoisseur, Kanye has designed a limited line of scarves inspired by the album covers of his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Collaborating with Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag, designers at exclusive Parisian firm M/M, the five scarves will incorporate the different covers that came with the album.

The New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys supergroup have released their first track together and I have to say, it’s pretty good. Don’t Turn Out The Lights features vocals from nine of the original members (BSB’s Kevin Richardson is the only member of either group who declined involvement in the project). The band is hitting the road this summer on tour together for first time across North America, including 10 Canadian dates.
