The King's SpeechColin Firth gives an Academy Award winning
performance in the true story of England's king, tormented by a debilitating
speech impediment, in this year's riveting Oscar winner for Best
Picture. After the death of his father King George V and the scandalous
abdication of his brother King Edward VIII, Bertie reluctantly takes the crown

desperate need of a leader, the unprepared king turns to an unorthodox speech

a powerful friendship.

The Buzz...
Mary McCormack is adding to her troop. The actress, who stars as a
Witsec Marshall in USA Networks' In Plain Sight, is
expecting her third child with producer Michael Morris.
It looks like TV handyman Carter Oosterhouse can build more than
shelves; he's also building a lasting relationship with actress Amy
Smart. The couple are engaged, Smart's rep confirm. The comely couple began
dating last November and were first spotted together in January, with a source
saying at the time that they made a good match. "They have lots of common
interests," the source said.

The annual Time 100 Most Influential People List is out. From Hollywood,
the magazine has selected an eclectic grouping that includes actresses Amy
Poehler, Blake Lively and Alice In Wonderland star Mia
Wasikowska, Oscar-winning The King's Speech star Colin Firth,
Pixar's John Lasseter, The Fighter star/producer Mark
Wahlberg, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, and producer
Scott Rudin. The magazine has also included Oprah Winfrey
(eighth straight year on the list), Mad Men creator Matt
Weiner, Sting, fashion designer/film director Tom Ford,
singer-turned-screen star Justin Bieber, singer/actor Chris
Colfer, and Matt Damon (for his work on Water.org).

Over the course of his 35year career, “Weird Al” Yankovic has
parodied some of the best: Michael Jackson (Fat, Eat
It), Madonna (Like A Surgeon), Nirvana (Smells
Like Nirvana) and Chamillionaire (White and Nerdy). To most
artists, it’s an honour to be the subject of Al’s colourful and silly satire,
however, according to the comedic musician, Lady Gaga wasn’t havin’
it when he rolled out a version of her hit Born This Way.
Now Gaga has weighed in on Al’s claims, and says she never even heard his
parody. A source close to Gaga says, “There must have been a misunderstanding
because [Gaga] is in no way trying to block the release of the parody. She’s
busy touring and hasn’t heard the song yet. Her manager hasn’t had a chance to
play it for her yet. She’s a huge Weird Al fan.”

Some of Hollywood’s biggest names have gathered to protest studios’ agreement
with DirecTV to release films as soon as eight weeks after their
theatrical releases. (The current release window stands at four months.) On
Wednesday, the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) released an open
letter criticizing studios for agreeing to offer video on demand while movies
are still in theaters, a move they feel could hurt “the financial model of our
film industry,” according to the letter. Some of the famous names who have
signed the letter? Michael Bay, Kathryn Bigelow,
James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, Peter
Jackson and Todd Phillips.

Leeza Gibbons has some big news, but the TV personality has been
keeping it all in the family, until now. Gibbons, 54, quietly wed Steven
Fenton, 41, at midnight Wednesday on the rooftop of the Montage Hotel in
Beverly Hills, where they had their first date.

Jim Carrey will pop up in the season finale of The
Office. Carrey will guest star as someone who interviews for the management
post that is being vacated by Michael Scott (the departing
Steve Carell) and seemingly handed over to Deangelo Vickers (Will
Ferrell). Carrey won’t be the only celebrity jockeying for the job;
Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader,
Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate also play potential
replacements in the hourlong episode, which airs May 19.

Kate Beckinsale has been offered the role of Lori in Sony
Pictures' Total Recall remake. This news shouldn't come as a
huge shock, as Beckinsale is married to remake director Len Wiseman,
and they've previously worked together on several Underworld movies.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been renewed for a third season. The
show was quietly picked up earlier this year with a deal that extends the late
night series through early 2012.

Foo Fighters' seventh album has become its first to hit #1 in the
band's native U.S., selling 235,000 in the week since its April 12 release; more
than double the week's #2 seller (Adele) and more than the combined sales of the
three other Top 5 debuts
