At The Movies

Hall Pass
Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeiki) are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives take a bold approach to revitalizing their marriages: granting them a "hall pass," one week of freedom to do whatever they want, no questions asked. At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred. But it isn't long before they discover that their expectations of the single life, and themselves, are completely and hilariously out of sync with reality.

The Buzz...

Two strong women, one fledgling cable network and reports are saying that fireworks are going off. Reportedly, Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnell are fighting over control of O'Donnell's upcoming show on OWN. And now Winfrey is trying to set the record straight. "There's no feud between Rosie and me," Winfrey tweets. "We haven't even had a discussion about her new show." "Oprah sees it as a friendly daytime talk show where viewers get to spend an hour with the old Rosie they used to love," the source says. "Rosie, on the other hand, thinks the show should be more political and a place where she can express her liberal views."

Hot off the heels of her breakup with Matt Kemp, it looks like someone new is making Rihanna feel like she's the only girl in the world. The singer has been getting cozy with actor Ryan Phillippe, but is trying to keep things quiet for now. Phillippe, who most recently dated Amanda Seyfried, has been dogged by breakup rumors recently, which Seyfried has adamantly denied, saying, "That Rihanna story is not true. That is so f**king not true!" Despite Seyfried's reports to the contrary, a source says that following the Gucci/Roc Nation event on Feb. 12 where Rihanna and Phillippe were spotted flirting, "They totally had sex. And it wasn't even the first time!"

When he was younger, Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin had to change his nickname after learning that it meant female genitalia in several parts of Asia. According to People en Español, the 38-year-old star told Don Francisco that as a young boy, he was called ‘Quique’ or ‘Kiki’, both of which are nicknames for the name Enrique, the star’s real name. Martin soon found out that it meant vagina in the Philippines.

Sharon Stone's provocative leg crossing scene in Basic Instinct has topped a new poll to find the most paused movie moments. The actress reveals she isn't wearing any underwear beneath her short skirt as she uncrosses her legs while being interrogated by cops in the 1992 thriller; a scene which was frozen by more than a third of fans in a poll by Lovefilm.com. The X-rated moment put Stone ahead of runner-up Jennifer Lopez, who bared her butt in 2010 comedy The Back-Up Plan, while third place went to a blooper in 1977 hit Star Wars, when a Stormtrooper hits his head on a ceiling.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway could very well be journeying back in time to recreate a classic scene from musical Grease for this Sunday’s Academy Awards. Footage of the pair re-enacting that film’s climactic carnival scene has been posted online by Franco himself, who we all know likes to play around with cameras.

Looks like Kathy Griffin may be spicing up her life. The outspoken funnylady has been spending some serious time with Isaiah Mustafa, the Old Spice Guy!

Warner Bros is rebooting its 1992 hit The Bodyguard, the film that paired Kevin Costner with Whitney Houston and became for its time one of the biggest global hits in studio history with a $411 million worldwide gross. The film will be scripted by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer, whose action comedy script Family Getaway made the 2010 Black List and is a priority project at Warner Bros.

If Brooke Mueller is indeed living with Charlie Sheen again, then it’s going to be a bit of a full house. Charlie seems to be creating his ideal harem around him, and if this story is true, then looks like he’s been successful in his utopian free lovin’ vision. RadarOnline reports that Charlie Sheen is taking Brooke on vacation With porn star companion Bree Olsen, and other girlfriend Natalie Kenly.

Just days after Joe Jonas helped Ashley Greene celebrate her birthday in Las Vegas, they were back in L.A. for some shopping The couple stopped by the TrunkshowLA boutique in West Hollywood hand in handt. When it came time to pay for the two sweaters and one top Greene picked out for herself, the JoBro beau whipped out his credit card to take care of the $400 bill.

Paul Simon has revealed that he decided to self-finance his latest album in order to free himself from the influence of his record label. Simon said that he recorded So Beautiful or So What in his home studio after growing tired of pressure from record executives at Warner Bros.

Slash has admitted the rumours about Corey Taylor being involved with Velvet Revolver are true, but a final decision has yet to be made. The guitarist had been avoiding making any comment on the gossip, while the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman simply said: “To be continued.” Now it seems that’s an accurate picture of the situation: due to Slash’s touring commitments the band ran out of time to decide whether to bring Taylor on board as replacement for Scott Weiland, who was sacked in 2008.

Daft Punk are no strangers to flaunting their robotic look. They’ve appeared in everything from pushing GAP jeans to Kanye West’s Stronger video to a cameo in the recent TRON Legacy, which they also composed the score for. But now Guy Manuel de Homem Christo and Thomas Bangalter have their own Coca-Cola bottles. There will be two official Daft Punk Coke bottles, which mimick the pair’s silver and gold helmets.

Canadian indie rock institution Sloan have announced the release of their tenth album, which will conveniently coincide with the band’s 20th anniversary.
