At The Movies

Hop
An out of work slacker accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take reponsibility for him as he recovers. E.B. (Russell Brand) is the teenage son of the Easter Bunny, and on the eve of taking over the family business, he leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred, an unemployed slacker with his own lofty goals. Feigning injury, E.B. persuades Fred to take him in, and Fred finds himself living with the world's worst houseguest. Back on Easter Island, a power hungry chick who has lived in the shadows for far too long has been plotting a coup to take over one of the biggest jobs in the world. Now that E.B.'s gone, he's got his chance. As E.B. discovers who he really wants to be and who he's meant to become, everything will lead him and Fred in an epic showdown to try and save Easter.

Tangled
When the kingdom's most wanted, and most charming, bandit Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) hides out in a mysterious tower, he's taken hostage by Rapunzel, a beautiful and feisty tower bound teen (Mandy Moore) with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn's curious captor, who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action packed escapade, complete with a super cop horse, an over protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs.

The Buzz...

Amy Adams has nabbed the role of Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder’s reboot of Superman. “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today,” said Snyder in the official Warner Bros. statement.

Reese Witherspoon is legally married. The Oscar winning Legally Blonde actress, 35, tied the knot with her very own leading man, entertainment agent Jim Toth, 40. The couple, who became engaged in December, tied the knot in a private ceremony at Witherspoon's ranch estate in Ojai, Calif.

David Letterman, Tina Fey and Louis C.K. were among the laugh getters honored at the first annual Comedy Awards. At the presentation held by Comedy Central, Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) and Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) won as Best Comedy Actor and Actress in Television. Tina Fey (Date Night) and Zach Galifianakis (Dinner for Schmucks) were awarded Best Comedy Actress and Actor in Film. Modern Family received the award for Best Comedy Series, while The Other Guys was named Best Comedy Film. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won for Best Late Night Comedy Series, South Park for Animated Comedy Series and Toy Story 3 for Animated Comedy Film.

Robert De Niro will co-star with Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson in police drama Freelancers. Forest Whitaker is also in talks to join the movie, which is produced by 50 Cent's production company Cheetah Vision, co-founded by Fiddy and Randall Emmett. So far Cheetah Vision has mostly churned out straight to video stinkers like Before I Self Destruct, Caught in the Crossfire and Gun.

CBS will be bringing back its two hit Sunday night reality shows next year as the network has renewed both The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss. Both shows have pulled in significant numbers this season, which prompted the network to bring them both back. The 7 time Emmy winning Amazing Race will air its 19th cycle next fall. It’s last fall premiere pulled in nearly 12 million viewers, and saw a three percent increase in the ever important 18-49 demographic.

He played a rock god in two hilarious comedies, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek, and Russell Brand has long been rumored to be part of Adam Shankman’s plans for Rock of Ages, the star studded rock musical starring Tom Cruise. At the Hollywood premiere of Hop, which opens April 1, Brand indicated that his involvement depended on scheduling, but that he was leaning towards joining Shankman’s band.

The big news that Metallica would be going 3D ran into a bit of a snag. The company making the claim apparently doesn't have the right to produce the films. Here is what Metallica had to say about the matter on their website: You may have seen some recent news linking us with Writers Group Film Corp. and their subsidiary Front Row Networks; we're here to let you know that their claim of acquiring unique live video footage for future release is totally FALSE. We don't even know who these guys are!

Laura Vikmanis, the 42 year old Ben-Gal who currently holds the record as the NFL's oldest cheerleader, will be the subject of a new big screen project. The film will document Vickmanis' trials and tribulations after being left by her husband and opting to try out for the Cincinnati Bengals cheerleading squad at age 39. Initially, the mother of two didn't make the cut, but after a year of hard work she returned to tryouts and landed herself a spot on the squad.

Lindsay Lohan has decided to drop her last name. The troubled actress and sometime singer’s mother, Dina Lohan, has reportedly told PopEater.com: “Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and [is] just going by Lindsay."

While a number of punk/screamo bands for the 2011 bill at Warped Tour have already been announced, including Go Radio, We Are The Romans, Simple Plan, Less Than Jake, and Yelawolf, seven big names in line for the summer festival have leaked online. While the rest of the acts were supposed to be announced during a press conference tonight in Brooklyn, the promo video for the announcement was accidentally uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday night. Eleven fans viewed the video before it was taken off the site, but word travels fast on the interweb. The bands announced in the leak include A Day to Remember, Against Me!, the Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, 3OH!3 and Gym Class Heroes.
