At The Movies

All The Money In The World
This gripping film follows the kidnapping of 16 year old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams) to convince his billionaire grandfather (Christopher Plummer) to pay the ransom. When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son’s captors become increasingly volatile and brutal. With her son’s life in the balance, Gail and Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg) become unlikely allies in the race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.

The Buzz...

If you have been enjoying the current season of Dark on Netflix, you will be pleased to hear that the show has been renewed for a second season. The series was the first German language show to be produced by Netflix and has proved to be very popular throughout Europe and in the United States.

Aonuma Eiji has confirmed that the next installment in The Legend of Zelda franchise is being made. This is important because Aonuma is the person in charge of the franchise as its producer as well as its manager, meaning that what he says regarding the Zelda games can be trusted. On the one hand, this news is not particularly surprising because of the incredible success of The Legend of Zelda franchise; on the other hand, it is nonetheless welcome news to learn that Zelda fans can expect something new to come out sometime in the foreseeable future.

The sixth installment in the Tremors franchise has its name. For those who are curious, Tremors 6 will be called Tremors 6: A Cold Day in Hell, so it should come as no surprise to learn that it will be set in Northern Canada.

Mallory Hagan is the American model, beauty queen and actress who recently responded to the scandal that came to light as CEOs of the Miss America pageant exchanged offensive emails about women. She shared that the emails are in part what ran her career in beauty competitions off the rails. She is well-known for her role as winner of the 2013 Miss America crown in addition to multiple other runner up positions.

Disney Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi is nearing the $400 million mark at the domestic box office in a dominant performance during the Christmas holiday. The Last Jedi took in an estimated $32 million Monday on Christmas Day at 4,232 North American sites. That’s the second highest total ever on the day, trailing only 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The animator who refined the look for Bugs Bunny that brought laughter to millions of people has died. Robert “Bob” Givens was 99 and died of acute respiratory failure, according to his daughter, Mariana Givens. Givens spent 60 years as an animator during Hollywood’s golden era of cartooning, working for the Walt Disney Co., Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera. In addition to Bugs Bunny, he drew such characters as Daffy Duck, Tom & Jerry, Popeye and Alvin & The Chipmunks.

Lorde will not be performing in Israel. The 21 year old singer was scheduled to perform in Tel Aviv in June 2018 as part of her world tour, but she has canceled the show due to ongoing boycotts and pressure.
