episode of 2026 will be hosted by Finn
Wolfhard, with musical guest A$AP Rocky.
The episode, which premieres on Jan. 17, comes weeks
after the series finale of Wolfhard’s series Stranger
Things. Meanwhile, Rocky will be performing music
from his upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb, which is
set to drop on Jan. 16.
James Ransone, who played Chester “Ziggy”
Sabotka in 12 episodes of the second season of The
Wire, died Friday. He was 46. The actor’s death
was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical
Examiner, which listed the cause of death as a suicide.

Marty Supreme opened on six screens in New
York and Los Angeles and scored a spectacular platform
launch, earning the best per theater average of the year
with $875,000 grossed.
James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar:
Fire and Ash loomed large over the global box
office with $345 million, a robust start that’s
nonetheless a significant decline from its predecessor.
To compare, Avatar: The Way of Water, which
opened in 2022 after countless release date delays,

German actor Lars Eidinger will play the
super intelligent antagonist Brainiac in James
Gunn’s next Superman installment, Man
of Tomorrow. Gunn confirmed the casting in
an Instagram post. He wrote in the caption, “In
our worldwide search for Brainiac in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’
Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU,
Lars.”
Netflix’ upcoming live action Assassin’s Creed
series, which has already been building out its main
cast, with Toby Wallace, Lola
Petticrew recently unveiled as leads and Zachary
Hart and Laura Marcus as regulars,
has now found its director. Johan Renck,
the Swedish filmmaker best known for directing HBO’s
hit mini series Chernobyl, for which he won an
Emmy, is set to helm the show.
Toho has unveiled a trailer and key visual for
the My Hero Academia In
Concert world tour. The tour, produced by Gea
Live, is set to kick off May 30, 2026, at
Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall in Japan
before expanding to international venues.
NBC is stopping the presses on The
Paper. Peacock's The Office
spin-off will end its linear run on NBC early, with
repeats of the freshman cheerleading comedy Stumble
taking over its Monday at 8:30 pm time slot on Jan. 5.
