At The Movies
Final Destination: Bloodlines
A teenage girl has recurring nightmares of a tower collapse in the 1960s. She discovers that these nightmares are a premonition she inherited from her grandmother. The grandmother predicted the collapse of the building and saved a group of people from death. Decades later, the granddaughter begins to have visions of her family members dying. She realizes that there is a sequence and must fight to prevent Death from reclaiming her family's bloodline. The official script by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick has been rumoured to preserve some elements of the early treatment, including death scenes, but now follows an original story involving the effect of Death's design on surviving family bloodlines.

Poker Face (Peacock)
Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can't help but investigate and solve. This is a nice throwback to the murder mystery series that used to be common in the 70s/80s. The pilot episode is a love letter to series like Columbo. In fact, Rian Johnson goes as far as borrowing some of the fonts from Columbo.

Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing (Netflix)
A revealing look into YouTube star Piper Rockelle's world, her relationship with her manager mother Tiffany Smith, and the untold stories of past collaborators who were part of her content creating team. In 2025, when internet celebrities are roaring louder than ever, the series chronicles the early stage of the phenomenon. It talked about that time when the internet was still not cheap and peasants were slowly becoming more accessible.

The Buzz...
The R&B singer Cassie could testify as soon as Tuesday in SeanDiddyCombs sex trafficking trial, as the Bad Boy Records founder faces charges that he orchestrated a deviant empire of exploitation that forced women into drugged-up sex parties called “freak-offs.”

Meghan Trainor is augmenting her tune in more ways than one. The singer gave a nod to her recent plastic surgery by changing the lyrics to her song All About That Bass when she performed at the 102.7 Kiis FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles last week. While the original lyrics to the 2014 hit go “It’s pretty clear I ain’t no size 2,” during Meghan‘s set, she sang “It’s pretty clear I got some new boobs,” and flipped her hair as the crowd cheered.

The Cannes Film Festival red carpet is perhaps the most rigidly controlled red carpet in the world. Now, the festival has added a new stipulation: no nudity. While nudity was never previously endorsed at the festival, Cannes updated its dress policy on the eve of its 78th edition to read that “nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.”

Ticketmaster, long a subject of complaints about hidden fees and other issues, is among those targeted by a new rule, which was announced in December by the Federal Trade Commission. The rule requires ticket sellers, hotels, vacation rental platforms and others to disclose processing fees, cleaning fees and other charges up front.

Madonna is working on adapting her life story into a limited series for Netflix. The iconic pop star has teamed with “Stranger Things” producer and director Shawn Levy on a series about her life and career. The project is still in development, but if it comes to fruition, it will be Levy’s latest title with Netflix.

AMC Theatres has announced a new initiative to encourage moviegoing in summer 2025. The United States’ biggest movie theater chain will offer 50% off tickets for evening showings on Wednesdays for members of the AMC Stubs program, which is free to join.

Tyra Banks is set to make rare comments in a documentary about America’s Next Top Model. It has been confirmed that the 51-year-old supermodel has sat down for an interview for the upcoming Netflix docuseries, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Cardi B and Stefon Diggs are officially dating. The 32 year old rapper and the 31 year old New England Patriots wide receiver sat in courtside seats during a Pda-filled date night at the NBA Playoffs game on Monday (May 12) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

New Line Cinema has filed an arbitration claim against Kevin Costner’s company under which Horizon was produced over alleged breaches to a deal for the period Western, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Fallout is set to return to Prime Video late this year, and it will continue beyond that. The Amazon owned streamer has given an early season three renewal to Fallout, which instantly became one of Prime Video’s biggest shows when it debuted April 2024. Season two is set to premiere in December.

The Academy of Country Music Awards have a home at Prime Video for the next three years, Amazon announced ahead of its upfront presentation on Monday. The three year renewal comes just days after Reba McEntire hosted the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards last Thursday. The deal with Dick Clark Productions will take the ACMs through their 63rd ceremony in 2028.

A Barbershop TV series has been greenlit at Amazon Prime Video, Variety has learned. The show will connect to the universe of the “Barbershop” film franchise, with Jermaine Fowler attached to star. Marshall Todd, who co-wrote the original film, is writing the series and executive producing.
