Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed racing series has always focused on illegal street racing, but Most Wanted adds something new to the mix: the police. The storyline revolves around a nameless racer who when release from jail after an altercation starts making plans to reclaim the title of street racing champion. The new addition of running from the cops is a cross between racing and a stealth game. Players start out with only one car after them, but the more cops they avoid, the more the police throw at them. Helicopters, barricades, unmarked cars, and more will eventually make an appearance. The goal of the cop chase is to get out of visual sight and then stay hidden until the cop meter drops to zero. Of course, there are a huge number of races to win as well and over 30 licensed cars to drive. If you thought that the Need for Speed series was running out of gas, Most Wanted will prove that there's still plenty of octane left in the tank.

Wedding Crashers

Divorce mediators John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) share one truly unique springtime hobby, crashing weddings. They inevitably become the hit of every reception, where they strictly adhere to their proven "rules of wedding crashing" to meet and pick up women aroused by the very thought of marriage. After infiltrating the Washington D.C. wedding event of the year, John and Jeremy quickly set their sights on two bridesmaids, Claire and Gloria Cleary. Having uncharacteristically fallen hard and fast for Claire, John convinces a resistant Jeremy to bend the crashing rules and accept an invitation to an extended weekend party at the Cleary family compound where they endure a multitude of comical mishaps at the hands of the dysfunctional members of the Cleary family, and also learn a few unexpected lessons about love and relationships.

The Buzz..

Kevin Federline is hoping for a big 2006 with release of his first rap album, and now he's bringing the hype to the internet by launching a website. Complete with a snazzy animated intro, KevinFederline.com, warns us to "never to judge a book by its cover."

Patrick Cranshaw, who achieved cult-like status as fraternity brother "Blue" in the 2003 comedy Old School, has died. He was 86.

Last month Jennifer Aniston became embroiled in a topless photo scandal and now her ex Brad Pitt is finding himself in a similar place. An unnamed paparazzo recently snapped pics of the actor sunbathing nude on the balcony of his Los Angeles home. Pitt has already unleashed his legal hounds, who have threatened action against any newspaper or magazine that publishes the photos.

The Rolling Stones raked in $162 million in concert ticket sales in 2005, becoming the top-grossing tour both of the year, but of all time, according to year-end data from the concert trade Pollstar.

mariah outsells 50

Mariah Carey has had a very good year, and now she can put a little icing on the cake as she officially has America's best-selling album of 2005. Just one week ago, Mariah was trailing 50 Cent by a little less than 200,000 records, but being the resilient diva that she is, Mimi rebounded last week with sales of 290,000 to officially take the crown.

The latest addition to Brett Ratner's ever growing X-Men 3 mutant family is Psylocke. So far all that's known about Psylocke's part is that she'll be fighting with the Brotherhood of Mutants and she'll be played by the relatively unknown actress Mei Melancon.

Toy Story is among the latest batch of 25 films earmarked for inclusion into the National Film Registry. Fast Times at Ridgemont High also nabbed a spot on this year's list, being heralded as a "cultural film icon."

Nickelback have signed on as one of the supporters of Paul McCartney's Adopt a Minefield organization and have encouraged their fans to donate to Doctors Without Borders. Frontman Chad Kroeger also gave "a substantial amount" of his own money to tsunami relief earlier this year.

Scott Weiland will do a rare night of double duty next year, as he'll play with his current bandmates in Velvet Revolver and reunite with Stone Temple Pilots. The concert, set for August 18th at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, is another edition of VH1's Classic Decades Rock Live. This will be the first time Weiland, Robert and Dean Deleo and Eric Kretz have played on stage since opening for Aerosmith on October 30th, 2002.

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis is playing a 10 date solo acoustic tour of casinos while his bandmates rest up for their next tour leg, which begins January 29th. Lewis' solo set includes Staind songs and some covers. He says he doesn't decide what songs to play until he gets on stage. And Lewis says he'll record a solo album when the time is right.

The seventh and final Harry Potter book will soon be underway. As a Christmas gift to her fans, British author J.K. Rowling updated her official website with yuletide images and the message that she has begun plans for the last book in her wildly popular fantasy series.

NAMM International will host its fourth annual quest to find the World’s Fastest Drummer. This highly charged Interactive Event will be a feature at this year’s NAMM Winter Session in Anaheim, Ca. The contest consists of two categories, Fastest Hands and Fastest Feet.

Less than eight months after issuing a stinging, public vote of no confidence in its record company, Warner Music Group, the multiplatinum rap-rock act Linkin Park has signed a lucrative new pact with the recording giant. The band reached a deal with Warner calling for an estimated $15 million advance for the group's next album, executives involved in the contract negotiations said. The pact provides the company's Warner Brothers Records unit with an option for up to five more albums from the band, one more than had been called for in their original deal.
