Super 8
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small
Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while
making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not
an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and
inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the
local Deputy tries to uncover the truth; something more
terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Just Go With It
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston star in a romantic
comedy about love, romance and the little white lies that go too far. When
commitment phobic plastic surgeon Danny Maccabee meets the girl of his dreams,
he has to enlist his loyal assistant Katherine to pretend to be his soon-to-be
ex-wife in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, he has to
recruit Katherine's kids to take part in the ruse, and the entire fake family
heads off to Hawaii for a ridiculous, out of control weekend getaway that tests
the limits of how far we'll go for love.
The Buzz...
Another key member of the Las Vegas investigative team is stepping out from
behind the yellow tape. Laurence Fishburne, who joined the show
more than two years ago in an attempt to fill the void left by William Petersen,
will not return to CSI this fall. Fishburne’s contract, like many of his
co-stars, expired after the season 11 finale in May.
Neither Brittany Snow nor Aml Ameen will be a part
of the second season of Harry’s Law. Snow and Ameen have parted was with
show in what an insider describes as a “mutual decision” with producers. Both
actors have been invited to return as guest stars. The NBC legal dramedy
from David E. Kelley opened strong at midseason and with decent
numbers throughout its freshman run, and opposite heavy (and sexier) hitters
Castle and Hawaii Five-0, made a case for renewal.
Hot off the success of Bridesmaids, Universal is set to renew its
vows with the team of Judd Apatow and Paul Feig. The
studio has bought a comedy pitch from the duo, whose partnership goes back to
co-creating the cult TV series Freaks and Geeks. Feig, who
directed Bridesmaids, will write and direct the new comedy, and Apatow will
again produce. No plot details yet, aside from the fact that the film will be an
unconventional love story.
Protesters were arrested near the El Segundo, Calif., offices of Mattel
Inc. after they unfurled a massive banner from the toy maker's 15 story
headquarters. The banner featured an image of Ken (Barbie's longtime boyfriend)
and the words, "Barbie: it's over. I don't date girls that are into
deforestation." Greenpeace is protesting Mattel's use of packaging purportedly
made from wood taken from Indonesian rainforests. "Barbie's dirty secret is that
her packaging is made from the rain forests of Indonesia," Rolf Skar, senior
forest campaigner for Greenpeace USA, tells the LA Times. "Mattel has
shown no due diligence. It buys paper without asking where it's coming from."
Kevin Smith made his name with realistic banter between comics
lovers in Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy. Now
he’s angling to capture the real thing. The indie moviemaker put out a casting
call for comics geeks to show up last week at his The Secret Stash shop in Red
Bank, N.J., with plans for a three day shoot starting June 14. “He’s not looking
for actors, he’s looking for real people who live and breathe the comic book
lifestyle. Must be funny outgoing and have a knowledge and passion for comics,
superheroes, movie memorabilia and everything that goes with it,” read the
recruitment post on Facebook.
Reality royalty Kim Kardashian is at the center of a
firestorm cooked up by InTouch Weekly. The magazine claims that
Kardashian carried on a six month phone/text affair with New England Patriot
Bret Lockett while she was dating fiance Kris Humphries.
But, according to Kardashian's representatives, the story is "damaging,
defamatory, and an invasion of her privacy" and, we're led to believe, untrue. A
rep for Kardashian says that Kardashian never "met or spoke" with Lockett. Which
is an interesting turn of phrase since it doesn't rule out text based
conversations.
Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora checked himself
into rehab back in April and could not join his bandmates on their European
tour. But now TMZ is reporting that Sambora is out of rehab in the Los
Angeles area and heading to Croatia to meet up with the band.
One of Nickelodeon's most popular shows is about to welcome a pretty big
guest star. First Lady Michelle Obama is set to appear in an
upcoming episode of iCarly to promote Joining Forces, an initiative that
will aim to increase awareness and support for military families.
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently released his new
book, Rockers and Rollers: A Full Throttle Memoir, but fans should know
that the book is a lot more about his love of cars and auto racing than it is
about his music career.
Zakk Wylde said “I’d be honored!”, if he’s indeed asked to be part
of any kind of future one-off Pantera reunion event that would
essentially bring back the surviving members (Rex, Phillip, and
Vinnie Paul) with Zakk Wylde as the guest guitarist.
While Sean Kingston’s condition after his jet skiing accident in
Miami is improving, his financial problems are not. The singer has been hit with
a $30,000 fine for disturbing the sea cows with his jet ski.
