At The Movies

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, who crosses paths with the fierce pirate Blackbeard and a woman from his past. When Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penelope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard, Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past.

On DVD

The Mechanic
Jason Statham stars as Arthur Bishop, an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It's a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his close friend Harry is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. He wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry's son approaches him with the same vengeful goal. Bishop has always acted alone but he can't turn his back on him. A methodical hit man takes an impulsive student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born.

The Buzz...

Ramona Singer and her fellow socialites could be gone from The Real Housewives of New York City next season. Bravo is looking to completely rehaul the New York cast by hiring an all-new group of women for the next season. That means Jill Zarin, pantsless Sonja Morgan and the rest of the ladies could be gone from the show completely. "They want rich, rich women, like Adrienne Maloof and Camille Grammer, dripping in glamour and $10 million penthouses. And they don't want to fake it. They are discreetly reaching out to women who fit the bill." Of course Bravo remained mum on the subject, only admitting, "We are always casting for new housewives in every city."

Armie Hammer, who won rave reviews playing the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network has landed yet another high profile gig. He'll play the Lone Ranger in Disney's upcoming remake. He'll be joining Disney favorite Johnny Depp who has already been cast in the role of Tonto, the Lone Ranger's trusty Native American sidekick. Gore Verbinski (director of three of the Pirates movies) is already attached to direct. Hammer is also slated to star with as Prince Andrew Alcott in Snow White. Julia Roberts will play the evil queen.

Lisa Edelstein has decided not to return for the eighth season of House. Edelstein's long term contract expires this month. In an interview with TVLine back in March, Edelstein expressed her hope for the show to return for Season 8, saying, "Nobody at work seems to think it won't [return]. Everybody wants to come to a deal and I certainly am looking forward to a Season 8." Guess someone had a change of heart?

The Other Guys stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will reunite for Warner Bros.' comedy Turkey Bowl. Ferrell and Wahlberg will play two rival football obsessives who take part in an annual gridiron game for bragging rights.

CBS has canceled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior after one season. The news was better for fellow in limbo procedural CSI: NY, which was picked up for an eighth season. Suspect Behavior had three things going for it when it launched at midseason: Huge brand recognition, a cushy post Minds timeslot and an Oscar winning leading man in Forest Whitaker. The show nonetheless never caught on ratings wise and now joins The Defenders, $#*! My Dad Says and Mad Love in CBS’ trash bin.

Ever since Jonah Hill announced he was going to do an updated, big screen version of the hit '80s television series 21 Jump Street, fans have been wondering one thing: is Johnny Depp, a.k.a. baby faced cop Tom Hanson, going to be in it? Well, thanks to our friends at MTV News, we now know the answer: not only is he going to be in it, he's already finished filming his role; and he couldn't be happier. "It was a great experience," Depp said about his return to the role that made him famous.

Nicki Minaj has ditched SeanDiddyCombs as her management and heads for the same label as Drake and Lil’ Wayne. The rapper has recently signed a deal with Gee Roberson and KyamboHipHopJoshua after terminating her relationship with Diddy and his partner James Cruz.

Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold and estranged wife Maria Shriver, changed his last name to Shriver on his Twitter account Tuesday, hours after news broke that his father had fathered a child out of wedlock.

Marlon Brando's estate executors have filed suit against bosses at the Harley Davidson Motor Company for licensing boots named after the movie icon without their permission. The Brando Enterprises executives, headed up by the actor's longtime friend Mike Medavoy, claim the Harley Davidson Brando boot line infringes upon and misappropriates Brando's name. In the suit, Medavoy and his two fellow trustees are seeking to recover damages caused by the sales and marketing of the unlicensed boot.

With Animal and Cannibal still spewing hits (Blow, We R Who We R), Ke$ha‘s already working on her follow-up album. Writing songs on the road while on her Get $leazy Tour, she told MTV she already knows what the album will be focused on: “I’ve been pretty much in this 70’s rock and roll kick and I want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that’s just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f**k, so we’ll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it.”

Fans noticed that Chris Brown started following Rihanna on Saturday, and she did likewise soon after. Wondering what this was all about, one fan tweeted Rihanna asking if this was about making amends or even getting back together.
