Footloose
A big city teen is transplanted to a small southern town
and challenges the community's ban on loud music and
dancing. Ren MacCormack (Kenny Wormald) is
transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of
Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture
shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a
tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night
out and Bomont's local councilmen and the beloved
Reverend Shaw Moore responded by implementing ordinances
that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to
the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the
town and falling in love with the minister's troubled
daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) in the
process.

Green Lantern
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has
existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the
Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic
order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a
new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the
Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest
recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).
Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect
for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But
Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination
and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity.
With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris, if
Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his
fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax... he will
become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
The Buzz...
Elizabeth Taylor, who passed away at the age of 79 in March, owned
an expansive collection of jewels at the time of her death. Christie's
auction house has unveiled her collection of 269 pieces that will be auctioned
off in December. But before the auction, the collection will go on an
international tour, including Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Hong Kong and New York. The
tour ends in New York for the four day auction Dec. 13-16. "She was born with a
great eye for jewelry," Rahul Kadakia, head of jewelry at Christie's America,
tells Reuters. "This is the greatest jewelry collection that Christie's has ever
presented."
Paul Simon had a very successful solo career following the split
of famous musical duo Simon & Garfunkel. Now the 69 year old
singer is planning another tour, where he says he wants to reunite with musical
acts he played with 25 years ago when his Graceland album was released,
reports the BBC. The 1986 album won the Grammy for Record of the Year and
featured the hit single You Can Call Me Al. As part of the new
tour, Simon will release a box set of the album that includes a documentary.
The tabloid press hunted her down within hours, so it was only a matter of time
before Sara Leal spoke out. The 22-year old blonde Texan shot into
the public eye after she allegedly had sex with Ashton Kutcher in
a San Diego Hard Rock Hotel on Sept. 24, the night of
Kutcher and wife Demi Moore's sixth wedding anniversary. Leal has
opened up to Us Weekly magazine and once and for all removed the
"allegedly" tag from the whole situation. Leal, an administrative assistant by
day and admitted party girl by night, says that Kutcher "just came up and kissed
me" at the wild party. Leal "didn't think it was out of the ordinary" when she
joined Kutcher and another woman for a hot tub skinny dip. Around 6 am, the two
had sex. "He was good...It wasn't weird or perverted." Leal notes that Kutcher
did not wear a condom during their encounter and that their pillow talk involved
politics, particularly the Republican candidates for President.
HBO has renewed Boardwalk Empire for a third season just a
few weeks into Season 2. "Following a triumphant first season, I was eager to
see what Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest
of their stellar team had in store, and they continue to surpass our highest
expectations," says HBO programming president Michael Lombardo in
a statement. "The response from the media and our viewers has been extremely
gratifying." HBO counts Boardwalk Empire's audience at an average gross of 10.7
million viewers. The show's first season boasts eight Emmy Awards, which is no
surprise given the combined pedigree of executive producers Terence Winter and
Martin Scorcese.
Richard Gere sold more than 100 guitars at a Christie's auction
and netted $936,438. Gere will donate the process from the auction to various
charities. Headlining the lot was a 1960 Gibson Les Paul solid
body electric guitar that fetched $98,500. The bid was made by a private U.S.
collector. The CF Martin & Co. Museum in Pennsylvania bought three
guitars including a 1931 CF Martin.
20th Century Fox has revealed that the fifth Die Hard
installment will be called A Good Day to Die Hard and has been set
for a February 14th, 2013 release date. The studio has also unveiled the plot.
Plot: Since the first Die Hard in 1988, John McClane (Bruce Willis)
has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and
attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists
the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an
international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring
prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work
together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.
Katherine Heigl might be coming back to the small screen; as a
producer. The CW has placed a script order for a possible drama to be
executive-produced by the former Grey's Anatomy star and her
mother Nancy via their Abishag production company. The series, currently
titled Trending, is based on the 2006 Cynthia Langston
novel Bicoastal Babe, about a young woman who lands at a job at an
advertising agency spotting trends, despite her ineptitude at doing so.
Mathematical genius, enigma codebreaker, architect of the modern computer and
all-round British legend Alan Turing looks set to receive the
Hollywood biopic treatment, with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to
Warner Brothers' acquisition of Graham Moore's script The
Imitation Game.
After developing the film for quite some time, it looks like Antoine
Fuqua is finally off the Tupac biopic. Apparently the director had
trouble finding his star, even after a nationwide talent search, so he’s moved
on to the action submarine thriller Hunter Killer. In Fuqua’s
wake, John Singleton is in talks to take over the director’s
chair. Singleton actually has some personal connection to the material, as he
directed Tupac Shakur in his 1993 film Poetic Justice.
Hollywood star says she was unaware of accusations of human rights abuses when
she attended celebrations Hollywood star Hilary Swank has
reportedly said she "deeply regrets" taking part in a lavish concert for Chechen
leader Ramzan Kadyrov, following a storm of criticism from human
rights groups.
Renee Zellweger is developing a drama for Lifetime that’s loosely
based on her “journey from small-town Texas to Hollywood stardom” Cinnamon
Girl would be set in Los Angeles in the late ’60s/early ’70s, and would
chronicle the adventures of four girls who are coming of age at the time of
cultural and political revolution.
Pity the poor schedulers over at Fox. Not only have they had to bench
New Girl to accommodate an extended X Factor, but now they've
had to move X Factor because of the weather and sports. Last night's planned
two-hour episode did not air because of a rain delay during Game 4 of the
American League Championship Series between the
Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers. Instead, viewers
on the East Coast got to see the game, while West Coast viewers were treated to
a rerun of an episode from last week.
Two stars of Millionaire Matchmaker recently made it official by
tying the knot in one of the darkest, more unique ceremonies we've ever seen.
Lovable goth couple Destin Pfaff and Rachel Federoff,
who work for Patti Stanger on the Bravo show, got hitched
September 24 at The Carlton Hotel in NYC.
Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are opening up
their home to U.S. President Barack Obama to host an upcoming
fundraiser. The Hollywood couple has agreed to provide the venue for a national
Latino gala on 24 October, which will be co-hosted by Eva Longoria
at the property in Los Angeles. Tickets for the event, which will target Obama's
Latino supporters to raise cash for his election candidacy, cost between $5,000
and $35,800.
