Transformers: Dark of the Moon
It's an onslaught of explosions, conspiracy theories and
Autobot-versus-Decepticon mayhem, with Shia LaBeouf and Rosie
Huntington Whiteley leading a cast of human heroes against an all
out alien robot invasion in director Michael Bay and producer
Steven Spielberg's third installment of the blockbuster action series. When
the Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the moon, it's a race
against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets; secrets that threaten
to ignite a war so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save the
planet.
The Buzz...
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is out with their 2011 nominees. Topping
the list are the seminal '80s band Guns N' Roses, alternative darling
The Cure and funk metal group Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as
Heart and the Beastie Boys. In a statement, President and CEO of
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Joel Peresman says, "The
2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what 'rock and roll' means. From vocal
groups to hip hop, from singer songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group
represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame." G
N' R earned their place among the nominees through the mega selling album
Appetite for Destruction as well as subsequent albums Lies and Use
Your Illusion. The Cure, in a lot of ways, was the anchor for college music
stations through the 1980s and paved the way for future alternative bands. Heart
landed on the ballot by fronting '70s guitar rock with the melodic voices of
sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. The 27th annual Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set for April 14, 2012.
Simon Cowell may be happier on X Factor these days, but his
sharp tongue is still in effect. The singing competition judge recently slammed
Lady Gaga by calling her “the most boring singer in the world.”
Cowell also had the same to say about several other superstars. He told the
Mirror, “If you only ever heard Lady Gaga, she’s the most boring singer in the
world,” adding, “Same with Beyoncé. Or Katy Perry.”
Selena Gomez has been tapped to host the 2011 MTV
Europe Music Awards on Nov. 6, the 19 year old singer
confirmed via Twitter. “I’m so excited to be hosting the 2011 MTV EMA on
Nov 6 in Belfast!” Gomez wrote. “Watch it live on MTV!” The pop star presumably
won’t be attending the event alone, as her boyfriend, Justin Bieber,
is nominated for three awards that evening. Gomez isn’t only the host of the
event, but a nominee, too. In fact, she’ll by vying for the Biggest Fans award
against Lady Gaga, Paramore, 30 Seconds to Mars and
her very own BF, Bieber.
The ticket surcharge for seeing movies in 3D may be going up. Sony
became the first studio to announce that it will no longer be providing free
disposable 3D glasses to see its movies, suggesting that theater owners will
have to buy them and distribute them to moviegoers (and pass the costs on to
them) or the moviegoers themselves will have to buy their own and keep them.
Sony said it will cease providing the glasses beginning in May, the start of the
summer blockbuster season, when it is due to release The Amazing
Spider-Man and Men in Black III in 3D.
One would think that Lady Gaga owns Lady Gaga. But a Nevada
company has tried to trademark both the famous moniker and Lady Gaga LG to use
on cosmetics and accessories, and the Lady isn't having it, according to a
lawsuit filed by the pop superstar under her real name, Stefani
Germanotta.
Courtney Love is ready to spill. The hard-living rock star and
actress known for her band Hole and for her brief marriage to Kurt
Cobain has a book deal with William Morrow. Love will "set the
record straight." Her memoir will address life with Cobain, the Nirvana
leader who died in 1994, her drug problems and her Hollywood career. The memoir
is currently untitled and is scheduled to come out next fall.
The Girls Next Door star Holly Madison is looking out for
parts closest to her heart, her breasts! The reality star just took out a $1
million insurance policy on her breasts with Lloyd's of London insurance
company. Holly isn't the first celebrity to take out an insurance policy on a
body part. In fact, she now joins a long list of celebrities that include soccer
star David Beckham and musicians Mariah Carey and
Rihanna.
Have you ever wondered why Kim Kardashian is considered a "star"?
Why her wedding was considered the American version of the royal wedding? How a
sex tape and a plus-sized tush translated into millions of dollars? So have we.
And it turns out, we're not alone. According to Parade magazine's Pop
Culture Poll 2011 with omg! on Yahoo!, Kardashian is the Most Annoying
Celebrity, with 29 percent of the vote.
