At The Movies

The House with a Clock in Its Walls
Ten year old Lewis goes to live with his oddball uncle (Jack Black) in a creaky old house that contains a mysterious ticktock noise. He soon learns that Uncle Jonathan and his feisty neighbor, Mrs. Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett), are powerful practitioners of the magic arts. When Lewis accidentally awakens the dead, the town's sleepy facade suddenly springs to life, revealing a secret and dangerous world of witches, warlocks and deadly curses.

On DVD

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that's about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinosaurs, while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet.

The Buzz...

Roseanne Barr has revealed the fate of her eponymous television character, Roseanne Conner. The comedian appeared on a recent episode of Brandon Straka’s YouTube show and shared the news her character will die from an opioid overdose when Roseanne gets rebooted as The Conners on ABC this fall.

Ariana Grande wants folks smelling sweet and dandy with a new line of perfume that's got her name slapped all over it in Grande letters. AG's company, GrandAri Inc., recently filed paperwork to lock up the rights to the phrase "Be Grande" for use on a number of fragrance products, including perfume, cologne, body lotions, bath gels, shower gels, body scrubs, body souffles and body mists.

Meghan Markle has just unveiled her first solo project as a member of the royal family, and of course, it's nothing short of perfect. The Duchess of Sussex is combining her love of cooking and charity work to create a special project that will support a very worthy cause. Kensington Palace shared the news that Meghan is supporting a new charity cookbook called "Together: Our Community Cookbook," which is "celebrating the power of cooking to strengthen communities."

Claire Foy assumes the role of Lisbeth Salander and takes on some deadly family business in the new trailer for The Girl in the Spider’s Web, the sequel and quasi-reboot to the 2011 film The Girl With the Dragon’s Tattoo.

Bryan Singer is in negotiations to direct Red Sonja for Avi Lerner’s Millennium Media, according to a spokeswoman for the producer. The news comes three months after Singer received the directing credit for Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, despite being replaced by Dexter Fletcher during the latter stages of the shoot.

The Joker movie has a new Thomas Wayne. While Alec Baldwin notably dropped out of negotiations to tackle the character within a matter of 24 hours, director Todd Phillips has filled the void with a reliable performer. ComicBook.com broke the news that Brett Cullen has been cast as Thomas Wayne in the film, which has Joaquin Phoenix filling the title role in a unique, 1970s set origin story.

Zombieland 2 continues to creep along. The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 horror-comedy will go into production sometime in January 2019, according to director Ruben Fleischer who, alongside the original cast, will be returning to the sequel. This will push the Zombieland sequel’s release date past a planned 2019 anniversary release, as early reports had previously suggested.

Adam Driver will host the upcoming Saturday Night Live Season 44 premiere, NBC announced Monday. The Star Wars and BlacKkKlansman actor will be joined by musical guest Kanye West. This will be Driver’s second time hosting the long-running sketch series while it will be West’s seventh appearance since 2005.

Angelina Jolie is attached to star in The Kept, a period revenge thriller from Imperative Entertainment, the company behind All the Money in the World.
