The Buzz...
Brenda Walsh is headed back to Beverly Hills. Shannen Doherty will
rejoin her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars in Fox's reboot that's set to
premiere in the summer. The six-episode "event series," with a truncated title
of BH90210, is something of a meta-reboot: Doherty, Jason
Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering,
Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and
Tori Spelling are all playing "heightened versions of themselves," as
Fox describes it, as the cast decides to attempt to mount a reboot of the iconic
teen soap.
The third season of Netflix's Drew Barrymore and Timothy
Olyphant led zombie comedy Santa Clarita Diet will
be its last. The streaming giant has opted to cancel the series from showrunner
Victor Fresco. The decision comes as a bit of a surprise given the
star power attached to the wacky comedy about a married couple in suburbia and
and the fact that the series is owned and produced in-house at Netflix.
After days of dropping hints to something new was on the horizon, Taylor
Swift dropped her newest song ME! which features Panic at the
Disco's Brendon Urie. Swift says ME! was about "embracing your
individuality and really celebrating it and owning it...I think that with a pop
song, we have the ability to get a song stuck in people's heads, and I just want
it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves". ME! is full of
vibrant pastel spring colors with a hint of Disney like flavor of magic.
A North Bergen, NJ high school play depicting the classic sci-fi film Alien
got a surprise visit Friday from the star of the original film, Sigourney
Weaver. Appearing at an encore performance of Alien: The Play at North
Bergen High School, Weaver took the stage for some brief
remarks, according to the North Jersey Record. Weaver played the character Ellen
Ripley in the 1979 film.
Mark Hamill is in hot water with some Star Wars fans
after re-posting a fan-made image with Harrison Ford, Carrie
Fisher, and himself photoshopped into it, with the hashtag “Missed
Opportunities.” Some prickly fans saw it as a diss of the current Star Wars
universe and took issue with his attempt at humor. Hamill had lobbied to
reunited the original Star Wars trilogy cast for The Force Awakens, but it never
happened.
Will Smith thinks a fan-made YouTube reinterpretation of The
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is “brilliant.” The nearly four minute clip titled
Bel-Air was created by cinematographer Morgan Cooper and recreates
the beloved Smith-starring sitcom as an indie drama.
Avengers: Endgame is on its way to a record-breaking debut with an
estimated $345 million from 4,662 North American locations. The final
installment in the Avengers saga landed an enormous $156.7 million on Friday
after a stunning international debut, which included a $107 million opening day
in China.
As has been the case with a number of high-profile blockbusters in recent years,
20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix found itself undergoing
extensive reshoots, which resulted in the mutant superhero adventure being
pushed back from its original November 2nd 2018 date to February and then June
of 2019.
