At The Movies

Jay And Silent Bob Reboot
The stoner icons who first hit the screen 25 years ago in Clerks are back! When Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) discover that Hollywood is rebooting an old movie based on them, the clueless duo embark on another cross country mission to stop it all over again. A loose sequel to the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back film of over decade ago, fans of the View Askew universe will find this holds up to expectations. As always there is a surprising amount of cameos (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Hemsworth amongst a dozen others) that make celebrity spotting a fun diversion during the flick.

On DVD

The Lion King
Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny on the plains of Africa. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother, and former heir to the throne, has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is soon ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile. Now, with help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba must figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The Buzz...

Moviegoers are about to give Joker even more reasons to dance like a goofball on those stairs in the Bronx. The Todd Phillips-directed movie starring Joaquin Phoenix as the beclowned bad guy is on the fast track to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. This means it’ll likely surpass the current record holder, Deadpool.

Jennifer Lopez is here to motivate us all to get that workout in. The superstar took to Instagram on Sunday evening to show off her impressively toned abs. Looking like pure sunshine in a marigold velour crop top and matching leggings from Niyama Sol, the Hustlers star snapped a glowing selfie from the gym, which, of course, has already drawn in 1.7 million likes.

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott just celebrated a major relationship milestone: They're Instagram official! The couple shared their love on the 'Gram with an adorable photo from their date night on Sunday. In the true spirit of spooky season, they went on a double date with Jonathan's twin brother Drew Scott and wife Linda Phan to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

Despite nabbing first place at the domestic box office, Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil debuted significantly below expectations and demonstrated that even the most powerful studio in Hollywood is susceptible to missteps. The follow-up to 2014’s Maleficent kicked off in North America with a lackluster $36 million bow, an underwhelming result for a film that cost $185 million to produce before taking global marketing and distribution fees into account.

Rosie Perez is set for a key series regular role alongside Kaley Cuoco in HBO Max’s thriller drama series The Flight Attendant, starring and executive produced by Cuoco. The Flight Attendant is a terrifying story of how an entire life can change in one night. Cassie (Cuoco), a flight attendant, wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man, and no idea what happened.

After some cryptic posters popped up around the world recently, Coldplay have confirmed that they will be releasing a double album on November 22nd. This will be the band’s eighth album and follows 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams.

Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali has revealed that he has been battling stage-four pancreatic cancer since this past April. Since the 2007 death of singer Kevin DuBrow, Banali has been the only member of the band’s classic lineup to continue to play with the band. He’s also been the group’s most consistent band member since 1982.

The CW’s Batwoman was steady from Episode 2 to Episode 3 in Nielsen’s ratings for the key adults 18-49 demographic, but the DC show shed another 300,000 total viewers week to week.

After two years of measuring Netflix viewing, Nielsen has now added Amazon Prime Video to the mix of subscription streaming services it tracks, and with the same set of limitations. Nielsen’s SVOD Content Ratings originally launched in October 2017 with Netflix. According to the research firm, the addition of Amazon Prime Video measurement will let Nielsen’s clients better analyze their own content consumption on Prime Video as well as the total content lifecycle of competing media.

The Morning Show is coming. Announced two years ago as Apple’s first foray into original programming, the hourlong drama starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell is set to debut November 1 along with the launch of Apple TV+ itself.

London based comedian, actor and writer Katherine Ryan says her boyfriend fought off a masked burglar and saved a laptop that contained scripts from her upcoming Netflix show, The Duchess.
