Enola Holmes (Netflix)
On the morning of her 16th birthday, Enola Holmes (Millie
Bobby Brown) wakes to find that her mother
(Helena Bonham Carter) has
disappeared, leaving behind an odd assortment of gifts
but no apparent clue as to where she's gone or why.
After a free spirited childhood, Enola suddenly finds
herself under the care of her brothers Sherlock (Henry
Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin),
both set on sending her away to a finishing school for
"proper" young ladies. Refusing to follow their wishes,
Enola escapes to search for her mother in London. But
when her journey finds her entangled in a mystery
surrounding a young runaway Lord (Louis
Partridge), Enola becomes a super-sleuth in her own
right, outwitting her famous brother as she unravels a
conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of
history.

Evan Goldberg comes Console Wars, a look at
the battle between Nintendo and Sega as
they rose to become the most influential gaming systems
of their time. Take a trip back to the 80s and 90s when
Nintendo dominated the world of video games. That was
about to change, as Sega started making moves in the
market, and Nintendo had its first real competition.
Under Nintendo, Mario was the lead, lovable playable
character, and Sega needed an icon to compete with his
fame. Enter an unexpected challenger: Sonic the
Hedgehog. Console Wars documents the inflamed battle
that played out in the early years of video games, and
find out why Congress had to get involved as “uniquely
American capitalism” was pitted against “centuries-old
Japanese tradition.”

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are parents of
two! On Sept. 25, after months of speculation, the singer and 3actress secretly
welcomed a boy earlier this year as Justin's former *Nsync group member
Lance Bass spoke about the couple's new addition. "The baby is
cute of course, it's Justin and Jessica!", remaining tight lipped about added
details.
Rihanna has hit back at a social media user who left an “ignorant”
comment on a lingerie photo she used to promote sunscreen. The Umbrella
hitmaker took to Instagram on Sunday to share a sultry shot of herself
posing in a lace bra with lotion under her eyes, while promoting her
newly-launched Fenty skincare products. “Just protecting my melanin while
they try to eradicate it! @fentyskin #FentySkinStartRs mini gang!” the singer
and fashionista captioned the shot. The shot prompted one user of the
photo-sharing site to quip: “It’s winter now,” suggesting sunscreen doesn’t need
to be worn in colder weather.
James Cameron provided his Terminator star Arnold
Schwarzenegger with an update on the Avatar sequels during a recent
chat for the 2020 Austrian World Summit. Speaking by video
conference from New Zealand, Cameron said, “We’re 100% complete on Avatar 2
and sort of 95% complete on Avatar 3.” He added that the team is
currently working on shooting the remainder of the live action.
Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has topped $280 million worldwide,
dominating a mild U.S. box office with $3.4 million at 2,850 locations in its
fourth weekend to go past $41 million domestically in four weeks. The Warner
Bros. tentpole, which carries a hefty $200 million price tag, took in a
weekend total of $19.2 million worldwide in 58 markets. The U.S. posted the top
number with a 26% decline, followed by Japan with $3 million in its second
weekend and a 30% decline.
Sienna Miller, who co-starred in 21 Bridges with
Chadwick Boseman, revealed that the late actor contributed a portion
of his salary from the film to her so she could continue working as a
co-producer on the movie. Boseman also played a vital role in securing her the
role of detective Frankie Burns in the film.
The Simpsons premiered its record 32nd season on Sunday night to
big numbers, mainly thanks to a strong NFL lead-in. The return of Homer,
Marge and co. delivered a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and drew 5.5 million
total viewers. That’s more than double the previous season premiere on both
metrics, with the caveat that the football gave it a 4.8 and 15 million viewer
lead-in. The rest of Fox’s Animation Domination Sunday schedule also put
up good numbers.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess
Of Sussex has denied reports the pair are working on a reality TV
show for Netflix. The couple recently signed a deal to produce content
for the streaming giant, and it was reported they would be opening up their
lives to the cameras in a series as part of the package.
Evan Rachel Wood has no regrets about quitting Twitter
earlier this year, insisting it’s one of the “best decisions I ever made”. The
Westworld star told Variety that she was fed up of accidentally
hitting headlines through expressing her opinions. |
