Cruella
Academy Award winner Emma Stone
stars in Disney's Cruella, an all-new live action
feature film about the rebellious early days of one of
cinemas most notorious villains, the legendary Cruella
de Vil. Cruella, which is set in 1970s London amidst the
punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named
Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a
name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair
of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for
mischief, and together they are able to build a life for
themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella's
flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von
Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and
terrifyingly haute, which sets in motion a course of
events and revelations that will cause Estella to
embrace her wicked side and become the raucous,
fashionable and revenge bent Cruella.

Cruel Summer (Hulu)
The psychological mystery centers around Kate Wallis (Olivia
Holt) accusing Jeanette Turner (Chiara
Aurelia) of not helping her when she was kidnapped.
The two girls seemingly switch lives overnight and when
Kate is rescued, she makes Jeanette the most hated
person in America with her allegation. The series, which
is set simultaneously in 1993, 1994 and 1995, tells the
story of Jeanette Turner a nerdy wannabe who is
befriended by Kate Wallis, the most popular teen in
their small Texas town. However, not long after the pair
meet, Kate goes missing without a trace and is feared
dead.

Chaos Walking
In Prentisstown, Todd (Tom Holland) has been
brought up to believe that the Spackle released a germ
that killed all the women and unleashed Noise on the
remaining men. After discovering a patch of silence out
in the swamp, his surrogate parents immediately tell him
that he has to run, leaving him with only a map of New
World, a message, and many unanswered questions. He soon
discovers the source of the silence: a girl, named Viola
(Daisy Ridley).

Lindsay Lohan is returning to the movies and will star in a
holiday themed romantic comedy that is set at Netflix. Lohan will star in
the untitled film as a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who suffers
amnesia in a skiing accident and finds herself being cared for by a handsome,
blue collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter, according to the film’s
logline released on Twitter.
Filmmaker Niki Caro and Charlize Theron are teaming
up to develop a feature film about women’s fight for equality in big wave
surfing for Netflix. The feature is based on Daniel Duane’s
New York Times Magazine article, The Fight For
Gender Equality In One of the Most Dangerous Sports on Earth. The four women
form a powerful bond as they surf dangerous spots including California’s
Maverick’s and Maui’s Jaws while asserting their right to join the male
dominated competitions.
Peacock is developing a drama set in an alternate near future. The
potential series, which is currently in the development stages, is set in an
alternate near future America where democracy is replaced by a monarchy led by a
group of humans with superpowers who rule with an iron fist over those without
powers.
Peter Weber isn’t a fan of his ex’s recent interview. Nearly six
months after his split from Kelley Flanagan, the 29 year old
former Bachelor called her out for publicly discussing details of their
relationship and eventual breakup.

If you happened to watch Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead this
weekend, you might have noticed something was not quite right. You weren’t
alone. Quite a few Twitter and Reddit users noticed that some
scenes appear to have dead pixels, or completely white spaces, on various parts
of the screen.
In a first, a Universal Pictures movie, The Boss
Baby: Family Business, will debut simultaneously in theaters and on sister
streaming service Peacock Premium. The animated film will now be
made available to audiences on July 2, in time for Fourth of July fireworks. It
was previously set to hit the big screen on Sept. 17, followed by a debut on
premium VOD sometime in October.
A new documentary from comedian Dave Chappelle has been set to
close out this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. The still
untitled movie takes a glimpse into the challenges facing a rural village in
Ohio during the early days of the pandemic and grapples with the emotions
erupting across the nation following the Black Lives Matter
movement. It will premiere on June 19 at Radio City Music
Hall, marking the first time in more than a year that the iconic New York
City venue is reopening its doors.
James Bond has a new home: Amazon and MGM announced
a definitive merger agreement under which Amazon will acquire MGM for $8.45
billion. MGM, founded in 1924, complements Amazon Studios, which has primarily
focused on producing TV programming, the companies said. Amazon will help
“preserve MGM’s heritage and catalog of films” and provide customers with
greater access to these existing works, the companies added.
Timed to the 50th anniversary of the original movie that launched the series,
The Waltons’ Homecoming will revisit the franchise, with Young
taking up the role of Olivia Walton and Shroyer playing her
17 year old son, John Boy. Thomas, who starred as the original John Boy,
will narrate the film.
Pakistan has torpedoed former porn queen Mia Khalifa’s
TikTok account in a fit of righteous indignation. Khalifa tweeted on
Saturday: “Shoutout to Pakistan for banning my TikTok account from the country.
I’ll be re-posting all my TikToks on Twitter from now on for my Pakistani
fans who want to circumvent fascism.”
Henry Cavill is getting his kilt ready for a reported reboot of
the Highlander film franchise. The Witcher star is in talks
to join the world of immortal Scottish swordsman Connor MacLeod in a new version
of the story, to be directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad
Stahelski.
