Morbius
Biochemist Michael Morbius (Jared Lehto)
tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but when
his experiment goes wrong, he inadvertently infects
himself with a form of vampirism instead. A scientist
suffering from a rare blood disease whose attempts to
cure himself afflict him with a form of transgenic
vampirism, gaining superhuman abilities but none of the
superstitious weaknesses associated with vampires. Leto
was drawn to the character's struggle with his disease
and the moral implications of a hero who has a thirst
for blood. Leto found the role to be surprisingly
challenging due to it being much less character driven
than his prior performances and also much closer to his
real life personality and thus did not require his
well-known method acting approach.
