At The Movies

The Lost City
Reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan (Channing Tatum). While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.

The Adam Project (Netflix)
After accidentally crash landing in 2022, time traveling fighter pilot Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) teams up with his 12 year old self for a mission to save the future. The relationship between Young Adam and Grown Up Adam was an absolute joy, both with the brilliant script superbly delivered with comedic perfection and the obvious warmth, vulnerability and synergy between the two actors. Overall, a very well made action and adventure film that deserves your time on a weekend

Super Pumped: Battle For Uber (Showtime)
Super Pumped is an American anthology drama television series created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, named for the 2019 nonfiction book of the same name by Mike Isaac. The first installment, subtitled The Battle For Uber, is based on Isaac's book and centers on the rise and fall of former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Also starring Kyle Chandler and Elisabeth Shue, it premiered on Showtime. Ahead of the series premiere, the series was renewed for a second season, which will be based on a separate forthcoming book by Mike Isaac about Facebook.

The Buzz...

Maury has been cancelled after 31 years on air. The talk show, which has been fronted by 83 year old Maury Povich for almost 4,000 episodes since 1991, was famed for dealing with issues such as teenage pregnancy, sexual infidelity and revealing paternity test results to a live audience but is coming to an end after three decades because the veteran TV star wants to retire.

It looks like there’s nothing but love between Ariana Grande and her ex-fiancé’s new girlfriend, Kim Kardashian. On Friday, Kardashian, who recently made her relationship with Pete Davidson Instagram official, took to her Instagram Stories to show off a gift box she received from the R.E.M. Beauty founder. Kim tagged both Ariana and her brand, R.E.M Beauty, in her post.

Rachel Zegler is “not invited” to the Oscars. The actress starred as Maria in 2021 remake of West Side Story, which has been nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, but will not be in attendance at the upcoming ceremony because she did not receive an invitation.

Robert Pattinson’s gritty superhero adventure The Batman is the No. 1 movie at the domestic box office for the third weekend in a row. Ticket sales push The Batman past $300 million in North America, making the comic book adaptation only the second pandemic-era movie to cross that benchmark.

Coda and Don’t Look Up added momentum to their hopes for Oscar gold by nabbing the top film honors Sunday at the 74th annual Writers Guild Awards. The wins for the Apple TV Plus and Netflix titles come as film award season heads into its final seven day countdown leading into the 94th Academy Awards on March 27.

On the third episode of HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, audiences are introduced to an NBA figure that even a fair weather basketball fan should be familiar with. Pat Riley has been a towering force in basketball for more than half of the sport’s professional history, earning 10 NBA championships between his time playing, coaching and serving as an executive.

After tying the knot in front of family in friends on the Hawaiian island of Maui on March 12, NFL star Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany Matthews headed to the island of St. Barts for an epic honeymoon filled with fun, sun and a ton of social media posts.

Allow NBC's new series to introduce the dynamic duo you never knew you needed: Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. They're set to host the new live reality competition show American Song Contest.
