Off The Record...

Garbage

Version 2.0

A band that is based in the college town of Madison, Wis., delivers the type of music reminiscent of Swingin' London where the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and all the other cool people were. The album is chock full of pure pleasing pop songs, each so seamless that you enjoy the ride from beginning to end. Look for the songs Push It and Special to propel this sophomore release up the charts.

At The Movies...

Godzilla

Nuclear testing causes the return of the most legendary thunder lizard (no, not Gene Simmons), only this time the big beast has an unexpected surprise, eggs, lots of 'em, and the creature that crushed Tokyo is laying those eggs in Madison Square Garden.  With the tag line Size Does Matter, this film delivers with massive special effect and action sequences. A surefire hit, the King of Monsters is back, ready to take a big bite out of the box office.

On Video...

As Good As It Gets

An eccentric, anal-retentive romance novelist discovers love and a new respect for other human beings when his carefully ordered life is jolted by events beyond his control. First he's forced into caring for his gay neighbor's dog, then he becomes involved with a waitress/single mother and her asthmatic young son. Academy Awards for Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson. A great, warm, loving film, kind of like the way they used to make them.

The Buzz...

Frasier will assume the coveted Thursday night position vacated by Seinfeld, while Just Shoot Me will take over Frasier's vacated Tuesday night at 9 p.m. spot. It will also reunite star Kelsey Grammer with his former Cheers co-star, Kirstie Alley, as his show will now provide the lead-in for Veronica's Closet, which maintains its comfortable pre-ER position at 9:30 p.m.

Although she has been lucky with her time slots, Kirstie Alley has been going through a messy divorce with Parker Stevenson, which will set the star back over $5 million as well as her cherished 21 bedroom Maine Inn and four cars.

Bob Hope was made an honorary knight by Britain's ambassador to the United States, a fitting tribute to a living legend.

After the success of Love Boat - The Next Wave, it was only a matter of time.  Fantasy Island will be coming back to ABC with Malcolm McDowell filling the role of Mr. Roarke.

Another Spice Girl has been taken off the rack.  Mel B. (Scary Spice) has announced her engagement to dancer Jimmy Gulzar joining Posh Spice and soccer player David Beckham with their upcoming nuptials.

Calista Flockhart, star of the new smash Ally McBeal, is reported to be romantically involved with the show's co-executive producer, Jeffrey Kramer.

Madonna has pushed back her Ray of Light concert tour in order to focus on a few upcoming film roles, Chicago, with Goldie Hawn, and the romantic comedy The Next Best Thing, with Rupert Everett.

The writers of the comedy spoofs Naked Gun and Hot Shots have set their satire sights on the Titanic.  David Hasselhoff and Priscilla Presley are slated to star in Titanic Too - It Missed The Iceberg.

Terry Farrell, who has said at several conventions she will not be returning as Dax on Deep Space Nine, has landed the female lead in the new CBS sitcom, Becker starring Ted Danson.

Marvel announced they have teamed with SealMaster Racing Team in the sponsorship of a NASCAR truck enhanced with an emblazoned image of Thor.
