Off The Record...

Garth Brooks

The Limited Series

In less than a decade Garth Brooks has defined a musical genre and gained worldwide superstar status.  This is a fitting opus to a musical phenom that shows no signs of slowing down.  A box set of his first six albums, many which are not in circulation today, are wrapped together and priced right for anyone who is catching his wave of talent as of late.  Better hurry though, only 2 million sets were pressed.

At The Movies...

Bulworth

During the 1996 California primaries, an incumbent U.S. senator (Warren Beatty) plots his own assassination, freeing him to speak with politically incorrect candor and seek the affection of a young African-American activist (Halle Berry).  Many scenes in this movie pay off with big laughs, resulting in an entertaining, upbeat film that showcases Beatty at his best in years.

On Video...

Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil

A writer gets involved in a shocking murder this drama directed by Clint Eastwood and starring John Cusack and Kevin Spacey. This is sophisticated filmmaking at its best with plumb roles for all involved. There's sex, transvestitism, homosexuality, and old rich vs. nouveau riche in this oddball tale. Put the kids to bed first though...

The Buzz...

The Comedy Network has announced plans to add the highly successful animated series South Park to its fall line-up. Look for Cartman and the gang on Friday nights at 10:30 starting this August.

Funnyman Howie Mandel has inked a deal to star in his own talk/variety show.  The Howie Mandel Show will debut Monday June 22nd, and will feature everything from superstars to top musical acts.  If his fill in stint for Regis is any indication, it should be a hit.

Hanson has finished filming a video for their new single River, that is a spoof on the movie Titanic.  Many of the stars of the blockbuster make cameo appearances, and with Weird Al Yankovic at the helm, it should be a scream.

Former Partridge Family heartthrob David Cassidy is back in the studio.  His new album, Old Trick New Dog, will feature updated versions of three of his former feathered hits including I Think I Love You.

After winning its time slot for over six years CBS has decided to dump Jane Seymour's highly popular Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.  Time for another write in campaign...

Rawk Gawds the Monoxides have decided to let their fans have a hand in naming their new live album set to be released at the end of June.  You can submit your title at monixides.com.

Rumors of a television series based on The Crow films are now confirmed. The Crow - Stairway to Heaven begins shooting in Vancouver this June.

The Muppets are blasting off into orbit for their sixth movie with Muppets from Space, which is scheduled to hit theaters next summer.

Fox will move its hit animated series King of the Hill from its post-Simpsons berth Sunday to Tuesdays, where it will go up against Mad About You and Home Improvement.

The cover of Superman #137 may seem familiar to long-time comic readers for a good reason. It's a tribute to the cover of the very first issue of the original Justice League Of America #1, first published in 1960.

Another team has designs on Dodger Stadium this October.  KISS has asked stadium officials to put a tentative hold on Oct. 31 for a Halloween concert that will likely kick off the Psycho Circus tour.
