Off The Record

Lisa Marie Presley

To Whom it May Concern

She's got the toughest act in history to follow, but Lisa Marie has a genuinely great voice that falls somewhere between Tanya Tucker and Cher.  Lights Out, the first single, is a descendant of Cher's great cover of Walking in Memphis. Opener S.O.B., and So Lovely all have actual memorable hooks. Tabloids will of course have a field day with some of the oblique lyrical references to both Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.  In many ways, To Whom It May Concern reveals Lisa Marie Presley, the entertainer, to be as nondescript as her dad was. Nothing here is remotely cringe-worthy. It's a small favor but we should be grateful for all we get these days.

At The Movies

Anger Management

After a misunderstanding aboard an airplane that escalates out of control, the mild-mannered Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) is ordered by a Judge to attend anger management sessions run by Doctor Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), which are filled with highly eccentric and volatile men and women. Buddy’s unorthodox approach to therapy is confrontational and abrasive and Dave is bewildered by it. Then, after yet another mishap, Judge Daniels orders Dave to step up his therapy or wind up in jail. So, Buddy moves in with Dave to help him battle his inner demons.  This film will definitely transform Sandler back to his Happy Gilmore God status.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Cars fly, trees fight back and a mysterious elf comes to warn Harry Potter of danger all at the start of the second year of his amazing journey into the world of wizardry. This year at Hogwarts, spiders talk, letters scold and Harry's own unsettling ability to speak to snakes turns his friends against him. From dueling clubs to rogue Bludgers, it's a year of adventure and danger when bloody writing on a wall announces The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. To save Hogwarts will require all of Harry, Ron and Hermione's magical abilities and courage in this spellbinding adaptation of J.K. Rowling's second book. Get ready to be amused and petrified as Harry Potter shows he's more than a wizard, he's a hero. Fast moving, involving story with enough action for kids of all ages.
